The Navy deployed a gift to Walla Walla in 1903. The USS Constitution was carrying a delegation of Native Americans when it was torpedoed and sunk by German submarines off the coast of Norway. A group of Captains and sailors from the USS Constitution decided to send a Christmas present to the people of Walla Walla. They donated supplies, food, clothes, guns, and other items to help rebuild the community. The Navy has continued to send gifts to WallaWalla since then. In 2006, they sent an amphibious assault vehicle and 11 pieces of maritime equipment as part of the Naval Sea Systems Command’s (NSSC) Western Washington Regional Exchange Program. NSSC is responsible for training naval sea systems commanders throughout Western Washington region. This event was part of Coast Guard Week in Olympia, Washington.

Walla Walla, Washington is a city in the U.S. state of Washington. The population was 1,837 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Clark County and is located on the Columbia River near Wenatchee, Washington. The first people to live in what is now Walla Walla were Hidatsas and Shoshonean Indians who arrived in 1792 during Lewis and Clark's exploration of Northwestern America. In 1854, gold was discovered nearby and soon after, settlers began arriving to build homes around the new gold fields. By 1861, there were over 150 families living inWalla Walla City limits; however, by 1870 only 10 families remained as most of the new goldfields had been abandoned because of low prices for silver from Mexico (the so-called "silver recession"). In 1872, when Congress created Washington Territory as part of newly acquired Oregon Territory, it included much of what is now Walla Walla County except for the eastern edge where Wenatchee would later be established. For some time thereafter there seemed to be no clear intention on either side about which community should serve as its capital; both towns lobbied vigorously for their own inclusion but ultimately neither got their wish. Eventually it was decided that Wenatchee would become the new capital due to its location on an navigable river with easy access to transportation and other resources (it also happened to be one of two towns chosen for this role). The city gained momentum through various efforts led by mayors such as JG Stephenson (1911-18) and HJ Packard (1921-24). In 1935 voters passed a referendum providing for a water supply from Lake Swatkin rather than from Seattle—thus becoming one of only a few cities in America without municipally owned water systems at that time! Theaters started appearing around town beginning in 1933 when WEWA radio station aired programs featuring local talent nightly followed by concerts outdoors on summer nights – quickly turning into an eventful nightlife scene typical of early 20th century American cities! After World War II ran its course growth slowed somewhat until rapid development occurred following Interstate 5 construction between 1965-1975 which increased traffic congestion along SR 520 outside downtown – causing many businesses located inside downtown to relocate or close altogether including several movie theaters which went out OF BUSINESS!. A number of public works projects have been completed or are nearing completion throughout recent years such as widening I5 northbound off US 101 to allow more vehicular traffic into Downtown while also completing several renovation projects inside/around DOWNTOWN such as expanding PORTFOLIO PARKING LOTS 3 & 4 & REPLACING THE BUILDING ON SWADEN STREET WITH A MORE COMMUNICATE PUBLIC plaza complete with restrooms & concession stand etc… Some large private organizations who unsuccessfully lobbied against government investment recently relaunched their lobbying effort IN WALLA WALLA CITY COUNCIL THIS SUMMER SUCH AS THE WAITERS restaurant chain AMERICAN FRIED CHICKEN n'WATERfall has brought back their original store building fronting NE 47TH AVENUE & SWANTON ROAD opposite FUELS WORLD

Walla Walla, Washington is a town in the U.S. state of Washington. The population was 9,002 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in both the state and the federal district of Columbia, which includes all of Oregon as well as parts of Idaho, Wyoming, and Nevada. The first permanent European settler in Walla Walla wasCaptain George Vancouver who landed on what is now called Point Defiance Bay on May 21, 1792 during his exploratory journey around Northwest America. Upon landing he named it "Walla Wal" (the name given by his shipmates to a shore they had seen), after another British explorer before him—Sir John Franklin's HMS Erebus and HMS Terror had explored this same bay two years earlier. In 1847, entrepreneurs John Cushing and David Rice founded Kettle Falls Pacific Railroad east of present day Walla Walla City and began construction of a line from Portland to Yakima Falls with plans to connect with the Pacific Railway mainline near Olympia. The railroad reached its terminus at what is now Interstate 5 about northeast of downtown Walla Walla on October 25, 1889; however due to fire damage caused by an arsonist in 1903 it continued until its final abandonment twelve years later on November 14th 1956 when it was reactivated as part of Amtrak's Cascade Corridor service between Seattle and Eugene, Oregon over portions of route old US 101 that served as their former mainline from Tacoma to Pullman-Alki junction just south of Moses Lake Lodge & Casino where Amtrak's new building now stands - adjacent to Spokane Valley Airport today! In 1924 Congress enacted Public Law 796 which gave local control over liquor sales within city limits from Excise Commissioners appointed by Governor Kellogg.- This law remained effective until 1959 when Alcoholic Beverage Control Board became autonomous under State government authority effective January 1st 1960 see secs 2-5 RCW 54B-206 The first post office established inwallaclaimed "Wallula" but this name may be older since there are references to a post office at Turnagain Bluff back in 1851 . In 1854 Postmaster General James Guthrie changed the name because he felt that "Willa Wal" sounded too Indian for a white man's county seat so he recommended changing it tooto Wenatchee County courthouse
Walla Walla was founded in 1847 as the town of Wenatchee by citizens of the Whitman County area who had been settlers there since before Oregon became a United States Territory. The name came from the Yakima word "walla" meaning "strewn with ferns," and "walla" meaning "to protect." In 1853, the town was renamed Walla Walla because of its location on the Columbia River. It grew rapidly following gold discovery in that year, and by 1861 it had a population of 561 people. In 1865, Walla Walla became part of what is now Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs National Monument.
