Gourmet Coffee History in Vancouver, Washington began with a small Colombian farmstead coffee shop on the northeast corner of Cambie and Seymour Streets. In 1976, Harry's Coffee opened its doors to the public at 3595 Cambie Street. The coffee shop was soon becoming known for its delicious Colombian coffee beans and fresh-made sandwiches. In 1984, Harry's became the first Gourmet Coffee store in Washington State when it opened at 5th Avenue and Mercer Street in Seattle. The store quickly gained notoriety for its high quality coffee products and excellent customer service. In 1990, Harry's moved to 6th Avenue and Dowling Street in Vancouver, BC where it continued to offer world-class coffee services until 2001. Today, Harry’s is still one of Canada’s most well-known Gourmet Coffee stores with over 20 years of experience serving customers from coast to coast.

He arrived on May 15th 1853 and named his settlement Burrard Inlet after British admiral Sir John Macdonald who had generously donated land for military purposes near Victoria BC (nowVictoria). When difficulties arose over whether or not Oregon should become part of United States due to competing claims by Mexico and Chile few people wanted to live east of US – including captains John A Cook (the first European settler) & Augustus Stevens who were commanding forces operating in present day Canada Island just outside Boundary Bay on Hudson's Bay Company property leased from Russia until 1867; they abandoned their efforts to establish permanent habitation there because they could not get food or water supplies from Alaska through Gate Island Strait In 1861 Commodore James Bullock founded Columbia City Navy Yard serving as Puget Sound’s only naval base before construction began on Naval Shipbuilding dockyard at Bremerton WA which opened in 1865; Vancouvers growth continued with its annexation by King County in 1889 becoming one of its original 27 municipalities within county limits During World War II Japanese internment came about due to U.SNA Fuelling Fleet order No 9263 issued December 15th 1941 requiring all ships sailing into Pearl Harbor OR Admiralty Islands be manned with Japanese nationals except those picked out for forced labor aboard warships escorting convoys bound for Japan; many ordinary citizens were drafted into military service but few received honorable discharge because their services were considered voluntary rather than compulsory The war years saw great changes take place throughout downtown Vancouvers commercial district including displacing many small businesses with larger stores coming into existence such as Safeway Stores Inc., J C Penney Co., Kress Drugs Inc., Pacific Gas & Electric Co., Sears Roebuck & Co.; among others Postwar reconstruction brought about increased development Downtown resulting in the demolition or relocation of many old buildings particularly around False Creek which has seen heavy redevelopment throughout recent decades culminating today with Expo 86 taking place here featuring several world-renowned landmarks including Rogers Place arena
