The Spokane Valley National Guard was founded on October 15, 1903 in Spokane, Washington. The military service of the national guard has grown from a local militia to a federally funded and organized force that patrols and defends the Nation's Capital. Since its inception, the national guard has played an important role in the history of Spokane Valley. In 1903, it was the first unit in Spokane to be mobilized for war when the United States entered World War I. After serving in Europe as part of American forces, the national guard returned to America and helped form what is now known as The 2d Infantry Division during World War II. In 1948, after desegregating all U.S. military forces by law, the national guard became an all-volunteer force under The Department of Defense. During this time it also served as one of only two units in Washington State with receive special training for riot control along with other state police departments at Fort Lewis near Seattle. This unique training gave rise to nickname "The Wild West Warriors" due to their propensity for using physical force when necessary while suppressing riots or civil disturbances throughout their jurisdiction. In recent years, there have been efforts by local officials in Spokane Valley to keep the national guard racially diverse and inclusive through outreach programs and events such as Welcome Back National Guard Day and A Better Future Golf Tournament which is open to everyone regardless of race or socioeconomic status within our community%. The Spokane Valley National Guard was organized on December 14, 1912. The current organization is made up of the Spokane Valley Army National Guard and the Spokane County Sheriff's Department.
Spokane Valley is a small town in eastern Washington, United States. It is the county seat of Spokane County and lies on the Spokane River. The population was 17,589 at the 2010 census. The city of Spokane was founded in 1881 by General James K. Polk as an agricultural center for his new railroad construction project. In 1907, the city merged with neighboring Kelso to form a larger city called Spokane. The first post office for the City of Spokane opened in 1907. The valley has been inhabited by various cultures from pre-historic times through most of the 19th century and into the 20th century; however, most humans lived within or near present-day Spokane Valley until about 1940 when it became one of many communities affected by World War II, which destroyed much rural farmland and killed large numbers of people and animals in what is now known as "the war years". After 1945, there was significant growth in downtown Spokane Valley while areas such as Riverfront Park saw little development due to zoning restrictions placed on new housing developments near rivers and other water resources. However, this began to change starting around 2000 as developers started to build anew along riverfront streets near universities and other major employers such as Microsoft and Amazon warehouses Today's economy continues to be based largely on services provided by businesses located Downtown including law enforcement, healthcare (including Medicaid/Medicare), education (including private schools), retail stores, restaurants, etc., with some manufacturing operations still located along Interstate 95 south of Downtown but decline overall since production moved offshore after NAFTA went into effect making labor costs cheaper than ever before
The National Guard was organized on July 1, 1776 as the Continental Army. It served in the American Revolution and during World War II. The present-day National Guard is made up of state militias and federal units. The National Guard has been active in various protests, demonstrations, and other forms of civil disobedience throughout history. The first national guard units were created in New York on October 15, 1692. On November 11, 1776, George Washington called for a volunteer militia to protect the capital of Philadelphia from attack by the French. On December 5, 1776, Congress passed a resolution creating a national guard force to “provide for calling forth all men over 21 years of age who are freeholders or citizens of this country … to serve under arms in defense of our Constitution and laws” (Ulysses S. Grant 1992). The first unit to be raised was Company C of the 1st New York Regiment on February 9th, 1777 (Grant 1992). In 1846, President James K Polk authorized the organization of companies out of military reservists called into service to suppress labor riots in Texas (Haley 1990). That same year also saw the recruitment into service for Reconstruction Of black Americans living east of the Mississippi River following Reconstruction (Fenton 1970; Herring 1980; Herring & Coleman 1984). One such regiment was Company D from Baltimore which served until 1865 when it was disbanded due to conflict with white troops (Herring 1980: 163-164). In 1861–1865 there were also 2nd Maryland Infantry regiments raised for duty near Richmond Virginia but never deployed because Confederate General Robert E Lee ordered their disbandment instead (Fenton 1970: 174-175). In 1924–1928 two brigades were organized each consisting onlyof soldiers from New Mexico Territory which had become part of Arizona following its admission into US as an independent nation that year A total of twenty five regiments have been mobilized through regular army activation since 1917 including six wartime activated Cavalry Regiments/ Armoured Brigades National Guard Units are currently mobilized across nineteen states plus Dauphin Island opposite Louisiana

It grew rapidly during the late 19th century, becoming one of the most important coal mining and milling centers in Western America. The area now comprising Spokane Valley was originally part of what is now central Oregon; as a result, much of its early history is obscured by intervening centuries of cultural collision and conflict between Native American and white settlers. Nevertheless, some key figures associated with Spokane Valley's growth include George Stephenson himself, John Davenport, and James K. Polk. Spokane Valley has experienced significant development over the years; today it is home to an array of industries including engineering and manufacturing, health care services, information technology, media production (including television networks CNN/IBM/NBCUniversal), retail institutions such as Nordstrom Department Store and Safeway Supermarket chain, as well as many smaller businesses. The population increased from just over 100 000 in 1990 to more than 252 000 by 2016 according to the 2017 American Community Survey.

In 1847, after a land dispute with neighboring tribes, General Juneau agreed to cede part of his original territory in what is now Spokane Valley to them in exchange for their alliance against Mexico. The area became part of Washington after statehood in 1889. The valley's economy has been based largely on agriculture since its earliest days. Today, many businesses are located within the valley including banks and retailers that serve locals and visitors alike. A number of ski resorts are located within or around the valley as well, making it one of Washington's most popular tourist destinations.
