The first military group to call Shoreline home arrived in 1853 when a detachment of soldiers from Fort Vancouver traveled through the area and donated land for a new military post. This fort served as a base of operations for troops stationed throughout Washington and Oregon during the 1850s. The post was later renamed Fort Stevens after Commodore George Stevens, Commander-in-Chief of American forces in Oregon. The town that grew up around this fort became known as Stevens City because of its proximity to the military posts and its convenient location on Puget Sound. During World War II, Shoreline played an important role in the war effort. In 1942, General George Custer's Cavalry Regiment invaded Japan and occupied much of North America. With so many men available for duty, Shoreline played an integral role in supporting Allied forces during this time period. Shoreline is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 7,754 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1892 as an agricultural community on the edge of Puget Sound. In 1916 it became a city and retains its rural character today. Shoreline's economy depends largely on maritime industry such as salmon farming and shipbuilding. The largest employer in Shoreline is Microsoft; other major employers include Boeing, Safeco Field, and Evergreen State College. The first commercial shipments of goods from Puget Sound to markets outside the region took place in Shoreline when early settlers established post office boxes there for mail order delivery from Tacoma and Olympia. By 1914, however, most of the shippers had moved out of Puget Sound due to competition from Western Canada Railway (WCR) shipping services available from Vancouver and Whistler than from Seattle or Tacoma. After World War I ended with victory by the Allied forces over Germany, WCR began to provide competitive shipping rates but ceased operations after 1919 due to antitrust problems with its Canadian partners (the Canadian National Railway). Ida Bogan Park Reserve was acquired by King County in 1984 as part of a land swap between King County and its predecessor agency, county governmentality under local control which had been formed following annexation by Bellevue intoKing County in 1901; that agency had served as both county recorder and tax collector for what are now Bellevue School Districts 2nd through 5th wards; that district boundaries were changed again on December 1st 1978 when those portions of Bellevue east of Union Way southward were annexed into Shoreline Township along with all shares within that township's north-central sector including those lying within newly created Lakeview Heights Neighborhood situated immediately north of Interstate 5 exit 222A (now part of Pioneer Square) onetime home & business properties owned by Mrs Ida Bogan prior thereto—this parcel being known then as “Lakeview Heights” & later still “Shoreline” adhering thereto thereto ever since.—This change being effected via Ordinance No.# 9789 filed January 15th 1979 by Jens Hansen @ Dept Of Planning & Development thru Mgr John Lai [later director] In 1916 Shoreline became Washington's first city after becoming one hundred percent white when it voted overwhelmingly in favor of incorporation as a result of a referendum backed by Mayor Harry Stephenson

Shoreline is a town in King County, Washington. It was incorporated in 1903 and located on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The town is currently the county seat of King County. Shoreline had a population of 7,554 as of 2010. The name "Shoreline" comes from the phrase "shore overshoot," meaning that the mouth of a river or bay forms an overflow into Goldberg Straits, which are then shared by two other small towns- one at its southern tip and one at its eastern extremity. By 1902, all three towns were served by one post office, with only Goldberg Straits serving as their primary mailing point. The first wave of arrivals to Shoreline came during World War I when many soldiers returning from Europe brought their families with them. Many new residents started businesses in those days- such as a grocery store, bakery, book store and lumberyard- all within walking distance of each other. In 1922, the first school was built in Shoreline and it continued to serve children until 1969 when it became part of the King County School Districts Central Campus. In 1923, Shoreline hosted the first solar eclipse across North America while also becoming home to what is now called "the world's largest wind turbine." The Shipyard Museum contains artifacts dating back to 1853 when Puget Sound Cement Company began production in nearby Rockefeller City on Mercer Island. The museum features displays about local shipping history as well as an exhibit about Boeing's introduction to airplane development in Seattle during World War II A number of businesses closed down after 90% depletion or fire damage due to invasive species introduced by humans such as houseplants (Poa annua) and certain Larry trees (Eucalyptus lanatus) which have grown uncontrollably large since they were abandoned by their natural predators: cats and dogs who removed any food that wasn't consumed immediately by these plants; birds who nested on top of dormant flowers; humans who took advantage of this situation for economic gain because there was no other way for these plants to reproduce without being killed by wild animals; finally climate change has caused some plants - like Poa annua - to grow so big they are now considered invasive species again
The first Europeans to visit the Washington coast were traders and missionaries in the late 16th century. The first permanent European settlement on the Washington coast was made by Spanish colonists in 1792, and it served as a trading post for many years. In 1851, Congress passed the U.S.-Mexico War Act, which granted exclusive rights to American investors in California Territory. This led to the Gold Rush of 1849, during which many people traveled to California looking for wealth and gold. A series of floods in 1854-55 destroyed much of what is now Olympia Beach, but helped spur development along the shoreline. In 1862, President Abraham Lincoln issued an executive order creating Puget Sound National Wildlife Refuge, which included land along the Washington coast. This area became known as "the wilds of Puget Sound." The refuge was later expanded to include more than 960 acres (400 hectares) of beachfront property. During World War II, Tacoma Naval Shipyard was built on land that formerly belonged to Puget Sound National Wildlife Refuge. The shipyards produced millions of rounds of ammunition for military use and created a significant local economy throughout the war years.
