In 1847, John Wesley Powell surveyed what are now Shoreline Peninsula and King's Beach along with other locations including Anacortes, Woodland Park, Moses Lake and Mount Rainier National Park while traveling through Oregon Territory during his survey for the US government as part of its Overland Route network. In 1870, George Brigham Young founded Springdale Academy in what are today Springdale Boulevard and Union Street near present-day Pioneer Square; it would become BYU campus before being moved to downtown Salt Lake City in 1893 when BYU became a public university. In 1898–99 school authorities leased land at Point Defiance Bay for shoreline extension through dredging which began on December 21st 1899 followed by preparatory excavation starting February 6th 1900 under direction of Superintendent Edwin Sutherland who called it "the most important physical development since settlement." The project lasted until 1915 when construction stopped due to lack of financial resources; however volunteers continued working until 1928 when all work ended because sea levels had risen so much that beach access was no longer possible within reasonable distance from shorelines across Puget Sound without extensive dredging or underwater reclamation which would have required large amounts of money and time/efforts that were not available until recently given current sea levels although future predictions suggest this may not be necessary anymore if tide changes occur relatively slowly). According to 2010 Census estimates there were 2,811 people living within 1 mile (3 km)of either coast but only 810 people living within 10 miles (14 km)of either coast with 5% relocating each year due primarily to job opportunities or moving into larger communities closer to jobs outside their original home communities despite having similar median incomes as those within 1 mile or less away from coastlines. Shoreline, Washington is a small town in Kitsap County, Washington. It was founded in 1885 by John A. Shore and his family. The town has a population of around 350 people today.shoreline was the terminus of the Yelm-Lillooet Railroad until it closed in 1978. Today, there are no passenger trains running through Shoreline, and most goods traffic comes via ferry or truck. The first settlers to shoreline were John A. Shore's parents, who moved from New York City in 1881 to start a new life on the Kitsap Peninsula. John A.'s father had married into a prominent local family and he expected his son to follow in their footsteps. However, John A.'s mother died when he was only six years old and he had to take over the family business – operating a general store and dockyard – for himself and his siblings. John A.'s brothers Sam and Joe started fishing boats out of their houseboat dockside which they used for smuggling purposes during prohibition era (1912-1921). They also built homes on land that they bought from the Shores in 1911; these homes remain standing today as part of the town's history: One is currently occupied by the Kitsap County Historical Museum while another is being renovated as part of an effort to bring tourism back to shoreline after decades of neglecting it due to its location within walking distance of downtown Kitsapville! The post-World War II boom period saw Shoreline experience rapid growth with businesses such as auto dealerships opening up along I-5; however, this prosperity came at a price: The community lost its nightlife which led to crime rates spiraling out of control even before social services could be available to address issues like alcoholism or drug abuse among young people living near high speed highways outside Ofsted's jurisdiction!
