Shoreline is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bellevue-Anacortes-Spokane metropolitan area. The townsite of Shoreline was first settled in 1853 by Captain George Vancouver and his family. In 1855, the town was founded by Salmon Peebles and James Waddell as a trading post on the shore of Lake Washington. In 1865, it became a municipality with its own government and assumed responsibility for municipal services within King County. The town's name honors Admiral George C. Shore who served as Commandant of Marines during World War II and as Rear Admiral (later Commodore) of the Pacific Fleet from 1945 to 1951; he also donated land for what is now Shoreline Naval Air Station (SNAS). In 1959, the town annexed adjacent unincorporated communities of Sellwood and Lacey Beach to become its second largest municipality by population after Kentwood. Its population reached 4,000 in 1970 when it annexed Anacortes and Bellingham Counties to form its third largest municipality by population after Everett and Seattle-Tacoma Combined Statistical Area. On November 5, 2000, voters passed an ordinance amending the city charter to allow for more open space in Shoreline than had been allowed before; this followed passage of a referendum in September 1999 that proposed increasing park acreage from . The resulting increase in park acres has led to increased development around SNAS as well as new streetscape projects such as Alder Way Boulevard which links Shoreline with downtown Bellevue/Anacortes/Spokane via arterial roadway linking both cities core areas located along Puget Sound waterfronts providing excellent views down upon Elliott Bay - one could say "the water front". As early as 1916 Mayor Harry Wolk had visioned developing what would become today's SNAS on some 300 acres north endowment land donated by Admiral Cushman Shore located near present day Issaquah State Park bordering Puget Sound between Everett Waterfront eastward towards Bellevue Harbor southward towards Tacoma Harbor - all this while keeping much undeveloped waterfront property remaining undeveloped until recently making him one very visionary mayor indeed! Today there are over 2 million annual visitors coming through our doors each year just from SEATTLE & RENTON !! One can only imagine how grand things might have been if Mayor Wolk actually lived up to his original vision but sadly alas that unfortunately did not happen :(

Shoreline is a town in King County, Washington, United States. It was founded in 1865 by George C. Shore and his family. The population was 2,803 at the 2010 census[2]. Shoreline is located on the Olympic Peninsula, east of Seattle and north of Tacoma. The town's namesake is George C. Shore, an early settler who purchased land in 1865 and named it after himself. Shoreline was officially incorporated as a village on January 1, 1907.[3] The first post office in Shoreline was established on December 5, 1868,[4] but no mail arrived until March 7th that year due to postal service problems along the route from Seattle to Olympia.[5] The first store opened in 1870,[6] and by 1872 there were three businesses open within the limits of what would become Shoreline: a hotel (later known as the Surf Ballroom), a grocery store/laboratory and a schoolhouse. In 1876–77 shorelines first saw shipping traffic with vessels using local harbors for supplies headed south for Puget Sound before sailing out to sea again the following year when Tacoma became part of Washington state; by 1880 there were two steamboats operating out ofshore terminals hereabouts daily loading goods destined for Puget Sound ports including Seattle[7][8][9][10].
