The Sedro Woolley Coast Guard Station was established in 1907. It served as the primary land-based coast guard station on the Olympic Peninsula. The station functioned as a headquarters and store, along with a small detachment of officers and men who patrolled the coastline. In 1951, the Coast Guard Station was relocated to its present location within the town of Sedro Woolley. At this point, it became an all-volunteer force operating under civilian management. In 1988, the Coast Guard Station merged with neighboring agencies to form the Department of Homeland Security’s Pacific Northwest Region. Since then, Sedro Woolley has seen increasing activity by both law enforcement and coast guard personnel as part of homeland security efforts in Washington state. In 2006, a new $30 million facility was completed at Sedro Woolley beachhead which provides additional capabilities for law enforcement and coastal support functions such as search and rescue operations. The coast guard also conducts annual summer training exercises near Olympia which helps prepare members for possible response to natural disasters or other emergencies that may occur on the coastline during wintertime.

Sedro Woolley is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. Sedro Woolley is located on the west bank of the Onondaga River and is adjacent to Syracuse. It is part of the Syracuse–New York City Metropolitan Area. The town was founded by Peter Sedro in 1825 as a result of his land grant from George Washington. In 1851, it became an incorporated town after being reorganized from parts of Omak and Newmarket townships. The name comes from woolen mills built there in 1851-1853 that were destroyed by fire. Woolley's economy has been based primarily on agriculture since its founding; however, it has also become involved in manufacturing such as textiles and plastics. The growing portion of the population that does not rely exclusively on agriculture means that there are now several shopping malls and restaurants within walking distance of Sedro Woolley's downtown area. In addition to its downtown core which houses several businesses including a grocery store, banks, a library, two theaters (the Central Perk theater district and Westin hotel), two soccer fields (one for boys and one for girls), three golf courses (two public courses and one private course), five tennis courts (including one main court used by both club programs at Sedro Woolley Middle School) as well as a large retail park with venues for baseball, softball, basketball and hockey among other events over the summer months have sprung up around what once was just an agricultural village - sedrowoolleysouthwest

Sedro Woolley, Washington's most famous historian and the author of several influential books on the region, died in 1992. Woolley was a self-taught Historian who started his career as an archivist at the University of Washington. He later worked as a research associate and professor at American University before becoming a full professor at UW in 1984. His major works were two monumental books: The United States Northwest Territory: A History, 1788-1848 (1979) and The Columbia River Gorge: A History, 1859-1914 (1982). In addition to these titles, he wrote numerous articles for various journals and magazines. At the same time, he also served as headmaster of Holy Cross School in Seattle from 1975 until his death. Sedro Woolley is considered one of Washington's most important historians.
Sedro Woolley was a small town in Washington state before the arrival of the wagon train. The town was founded by Captain James Sedro on July 20, 1846, when he and his party of men traveled from Fort Davenport to survey the land around present-day Seattle. The area that Sedro Woolley surveyed is now known as Pioneer Square.
