The National Guard in Sammamish, Washington was first organized on December 14, 1861. The present incarnation of the National Guard is the Sammamish-Kapuskasing-Lillooet Regional Defence Force. The formation of the National Guard was a response to the Civil War and an attempt by local militias to protect their communities from Confederate forces. The initial officers who organized the National Guard were citizens from various parts of Washington Territory. The first unit organized in Sammamish was Company K of the 3rd Regiment (Washington) Infantry Militia. This company was mobilized on December 14th and served for four months until it was disbanded due to lack of recruits. On December 15th, 1862, Governor Isaac Stevens signed a proclamation ordering all male citizens over 18 years old in all counties in Washington Territory to assemble at City Hall at 6pm that evening for duty with the National Guard. This proclamation called for all males across Washington Territory to volunteer into service and be paid one dollar per day as enlistment fees. The first units raised under this proclamation were Companies D and E of the 2nd Regiment (Washington) Infantry Militia which served until they were also disbanded on January 9th 1863 due to low numbers being enrolled into service. In February 1863, General Order No 1 ordered all Male Citizens 21 or older residing within any county in Washington Territory to assemble at City Hall at 6pm on Sunday evenings for duty with either Regiment or Militia unless exempted by military authorities pending muster out or other specific orders from higher authorities. Enlistment into service continued through February 21st but no payments were made as required because many men had already enlisted elsewhere during this time frame past muster out period or may have been drafted prior to this date if still eligible for service under certain circumstances such as age or veteran status). A total of 524 men assembled at City Hall that night including those from King County who gathered together under instruction from Lieutenant Colonel Moses Fenton although he had only arrived in town that morning following his return from Kansas where he had led an army against Rebel forces there earlier that week. Most soldiers gathered around City Hall went home after dark having not received paychecks since early February so they did not feel rushed into volunteering given their options available at that time given their current situation financially speaking outside of military service opportunities available then as now though some soldiers did stay longer than necessary due specifically to sergeant/major rank offers being extended them upon mobilization making it possible for them more money should they choose instead civilian employment rather than military engagement however most accepted these offers providing temporary work placement opportunities during hostilities rather then joining active combat units which would have ended their eligibility for benefits thereafter provided certain conditions were met such as discharge without honorable cause prior thereto). A few soldiers formed companies outside of city limits before disbanding once rosters grew too large again which is why there are multiple regiments listed throughout this paper including 2nd (Washington) Infantry...3rd (Wash.) This discovery allowed researchers to learn more about Japan's role during World War II and also helped identify remains of those lost in that conflict. Today, SAMMAMISH still has some of its early settlers living here; many are descendants of those who founded SAMMAMISH back in 1851. There are also a few recent immigrants from Korea, China, India, Thailand and other countries living here as well – all drawn to the fallibility of Mount Rainier (the most popular destination for tourists) and its picturesque surroundings along with growing opportunities for job growth in downtown Sammamish since 2000!

The National Guard was created in 1792 as an emergency measure to provide troops for when Congress could not find enough volunteers to fight in the War of 1812. The first units were raised from men who had volunteered to serve on land forces. By 1800, there were 1,500 national guardsmen in existence. During World War I, there was an increase in the number of National Guardsmen because of mandatory service during that war. As a result, by 1917 there were over 24 millionnational guardsmen enrolled in uniform across the country. In 1940, President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered all American soldiers and sailors abroad be placed under military jurisdiction so they could be given training and equipment for use during World War II if needed. This order made national guard units available for both warfighting and peacekeeping roles within the United States government. Since its creation, the national guard has been used more times than any other type of militia in America- serving in every major conflict since 1812 including two wars with Mexico (1846-1848 and 1898-1902). Additionally, due to its mass mobilization capabilities it has played a critical role throughout America’s history when called upon to participate outside of normal peacetime military routines such as disaster relief or counterinsurgency operations. In recent years however, concerns have arisen about how well funded and trained these units are compared to regular U.S Army or Marine Corps formations; potentially leading to potential unrest if deployed outside traditional combat areas or if resources are diverted from more important tasks at home instead of abroad. These concerns have led some lawmakers to explore changing or eliminating aspects of the national guard system altogether while others continue support for their integral role within American society and defense policy
