Richland, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,914 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County. The first permanent European settlement in what is now Richland was made by Capt. George Vancouver on May 12, 1804 when he and his men landed on what is now called Point Defiance Bay. From this location they surveyed and mapped much of the lower Puget Sound region and began trading with the local Native Americans. In 1821, Captain John Henshall founded Yakima Colony near present-day Yakima Valley as part of an effort to settle new land west of the Cascade Mountains. In 1835 Governor Isaac Stevens appointed Wm Halsey as governor of King County to lead an investigation into Indian removal from what is now Richland and neighboring townships. On July 11, 1835 Halsey issued a proclamation which ordered all Indians living east of Salmon River to leave within 72 hours or be forced out by force if necessary. Most of the eastern tribes retreated but a few banditry continued until 1840 when most were removed again under orders from Stevens himself. During World War II Richland served as headquarters for Army Forces Northwest (AFNW) at Masaryk Park in Seattle before being moved to Battle Ground after Pearl Harbor. After World War II it became home to Boeing Field and then Westview Airport where it remains today as one of only two commercial airports in King County (the other being Sea-Tac Airport). Richland has had several name changes since its incorporation as a town in 1907: "Moses Lake" (1907), "Nisqually" (1909), "Puyallup" (1910), "Richmond" (1912), "Albany" (1913), "Eastview" (1945). The current name came about due to efforts by Mayor Gaylord Nelson to promote growth around Westview Airport rather than just another airport name change so that people would know it was an incorporated place with some sort of identity outside those associated with Sea-Tac Airport which continues today even though Richland officially changed its name back to Yakima Valley College circa 2001 despite protests from alumni who believe their college should have been given official recognition throughout history like other universities such as UW–Seattle Center which had been renamed Mercer Island during that time period also!

Richland is a small town in the state of Washington, located on the Kitsap Peninsula. The town was founded by Captain John Rich in 1859. It became an incorporated town in 1907 and is now served by the Richland City Council. The population was 7,839 at the 2010 census, down from 8,971 at the 2000 census. The original settlers of what is now Richland were farmers who arrived during the early 1800s. By 1859, captain John Rich had purchased land east of present-day downtown Richland and established a village called "New Town." In 1907, Richland Incorporated was created to service all of its residents within its boundaries. One of the earliest businesses in New Town was a store operated by Elijah Porter which sold goods such as hardware and groceries to local farmers and fishermen. After a fire destroyed most of Pioneer Hall in 1865, Porter reopened his store in front of what is now known as First Baptist Church (now Jacob's Market). In 1867, he built another store on Fairview Street which became known as The Mercantile for many years before being moved to Third Avenue in 1890. In 1910, Captain John Richardson erected a frame building known as The Old Mill (later renamed homeplace) on current-day Main Street for his family's grocery business. This building still stands today and provides evidence thatRichmond had some sortof commercial establishment back then! In 1912-13, Captain John Richardson donated land south of Main Street to be used as an agricultural fairgrounds site where citizens could purchase produce from local farmers or take home their own vegetables from market stalls set up around the fairgrounds area! After World War I ended with Europe embroiled in conflict and America still rebuilding afterrieguhtslabor shortages began becoming apparent following Germany's entry into war on August 1st 1914 -Richmond voters decided that they would like their new township formed into two separate townships with different boundaries: one north side extending along State Route 99 to encompass Olympia while one south side extended along Kitsap Boulevard across Elliott Bay including present day DowntownRichmond became self sufficient once again thanks largely to farming efforts supplemented by lumber production! On November 3rd 1916 -Richmond residents approved annexation requests from both Olympia & Tacoma making it official! Continued growth followed throughout these years with annexations requests coming from Bellingham (1921), Bremerton (1923), Lynnwood (1925), Wenatchee (1927), Kent Beach (1929) & more recently In2012 when annexation requests came from King County -Richland voted no twice but eventually ratifiedicks against annexation due to transportation concerns
Richland was first settled in 1853 by Danish immigrants. The town was named after the rich land on which it was located. Richland became a city in 1907 and is now the capital of Washington County.
