Since the early days of the United States, there has been a strongMilitary tradition in Redmond. The city's history is full of military personnel and their families who have played an important role in the development of this great country. Here are five examples: 1) The first troops arrived in 1847 when General John C. Fremont was called to lead a force against Native Americans near what is now Redmond. He brought with him his own small band of soldiers, including 10 boys under age 15, as part of his famed "Mountain Men." Over time, other generals and armies would arrive in town and contribute their forces to various wars fought here or nearby. 2) In 1875, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point offered its first class of cadets to study engineering at Redmond School; however, they did not enroll because Congress had not yet appropriated money for it! The school finally opened its doors in 1876 thanks to contributions by local citizens and hoteliers who agreed to provide space for students on their properties. Classes continued until 1920 when enrollment dropped due to World War I hostilities; however, classes resumed after the armistice was signed on November 11th 1918. A permanent physical plant was built for the academy in 1922 following donations from Major James Biddle Sr., president of Washington Mutual Bank (now JPMorgan Chase). From then until Modi-Net born technology began displacing warfare as the No 1 international concern among our classmates back then – just like we do today! 3) In 1941, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen became one of 206 members selected by Govt.'s Advisory Committee on Vocational Education (GACVE) to found Northwest Institute Of Technology (NITE), which later became Microsoft Research Laboratory (MRL). NITE located at 4405 Eastgate Road NE – right next door where Redmond High School currently stands! On December 2nd 1941 MRL’s research team developed an algorithm that helped identify Japanese militarization efforts throughout Southeast Asia before Pearl Harbor! This groundbreaking work also led directly to America’s victory over Japan during World War II! 4) In 1951 King County purchased 12 acres adjacent to Bellevue Hospital property from Drinker & Beyer Incorporated for $225 per acre – making it one of only two sites ever approved by Government for purchase by County government – along with White Rock Lake near Kentwood! Today Bellevue Hospital Center occupies much of that old property while Stadler Medical Group occupies another parcel across from Husky Stadium/Redmond Arena/Marine Corps Air Station Everett on Puget Sound… all without any tax dollars being spent!! What a historic accomplishment!!! Keep up the good work Seattle!! 5) Finally, let's mention JT Ready LLC which operates Federal Way Naval Base inside present day Redmond - home since 1952 of both Coast Guard Commandant Ray Kroc and Admiral Elmo Zumwalt – both well known figures associated with Navy Aviation Branch ! Along side those famous folks come countless others who have made a major impact either locally or nationally within Defense Industry sectors such as IT contracting services etc.– many having served here through active duty military service or prior deployments… these people represent some pretty impressive pedigree too!!!

Redmond was founded on November 17, 1881 by businessmen George Willard and Moses Chapman with land donated from nearby Mount Vernon Township.[3] The town grew rapidly due to its location near Puget Sound Naval Shipyard on Lake Union – which gave it access to reliable transportation throughout much of Northwest America – as well as its status as an agricultural center due to its good water resources and plentiful forests around Lake Union[4]. The first school opened in 1884; by 1907, there were over 100 businesses operating in downtown Redmond[5]; during World War I, many workers came from Tacoma area military plants via shipport seeking work at munitions factories; following the war, many jobs went overseas but some industries such as engineering developed here [6]; early commercial development took place along what are now Interstate 5 (now called Roosevelt Way) including hotel/motel conversions into apartments; local newspapers were established starting with The Bulletin in 1896; major league baseball began play here in 1901 with Everett Graysons playing against Tacoma Tigers
