As Marines, we take our duty seriously. Our unit is one of the most decorated in history, with more medals and awards than any other branch of service. But that doesn't mean we don't love giving back to the community. In fact, many of our favorite things come from deployments – like recent finds at a beach or an excavation site. One of our favorite things to do when deployed is find unique gifts for friends and family back home who live in different parts of the country. So when we heard about a Marine team stationed in Redmond, Washington that was gifting gift history, we had to be involved! The marines are responsible for clean-up and donation drives on local beaches and they often find interesting items such as coins, toys and books while working on their projects. A knapsack was a convenient and affordable way for Marines to carry their supplies on deployments. It allowed them to stay organized and stayed healthy while deployed. The marines also usedknapsacks as insignia for their unit. Marines wearing knapsacks were recognized as being from the unit and were considered honorary members of that unit. Since then, marines have received many different types of deployment gifts, including radios, tanks, grenades, clothing, tools, pistols, vehicles, combat gear, or even just small pieces of jewelry. Each gift has its own unique meaning and purpose within the marines’ culture. The marines appreciate each gift that is given to them; it helps show how much they care about their service and what they do for their country.

Gifts were given to members of the MEF to commemorate their service and deployments. In 1944, the Marines began deploying gifts as part of the United States Marine Forces in Europe (USMFE). USMFE was a joint military operation between the United States and Great Britain that aimed to defeat Nazi Germany. As part of USMFE, Marines donated goods and services such as food and clothing to Allied forces. During USMFE, Marines also gave away weapons and ammunition to Allied forces. In 1945, the Marine Corps began deployding gifts as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear. Neptune’s Spear was an attempt by Japan to take over British-held Hong Kong. The goal of Neptune’s Spear was to drive Japanese forces out of Hong Kong so that it could be returned to China. To celebrate this event, Marines donated goods and services such as food and clothing to Allied forces. Since its inception, marine Gift History has been a means for Members of theMarine Corps to show appreciation for their service and dedication thereto through donations made in support thereof both during peacetime and wartime conditions alike.
Redmond, Washington is a small city in the Cascade Mountains of south-central Washington. The population was 16,872 at the 2010 census, down from 18,959 in 2000. Redmond became a town in 1907 and was incorporated as a city in 1933. The name comes from two factors: Redmond's location on top of an old Indian mound that had been named Red Lake after the local Sauk tribe; and its status as an agricultural center due to its fertile soils and abundance of water resources. The first Europeans to visit what is now Redmond were fur traders traveling through the area in 1792. On July 13, 1805, John McLoughlin set out from Fort Vancouver with his party of thirteen men and five women on horseback for what would be his final expedition into North America. They left behind supplies for the forty-ninth president of the United States, James K. Polk ( Ironically, McLoughlin would become one of Polk's largest supporters during his presidential campaign). For many years it was thought that this group was lost forever until their remains were discovered by farmhands working on a property belonging to Deputy Sheriff Harry Stinson in 1910. In 1907, when Redmond became a town withinSeattle County,[1] it decided to replace its original name with something more fitting for its growing community - Redmond Township (later renamed Bellevue) because there were already other towns nearby with similar names such as Snoqualmie or Woodinville (though no one currently living in either town has any connection to these earlier towns). The new name stuck and Redmond continued to grow rapidly becoming one of Seattle's most popular settlements despite being just twenty miles wide at its widest point compared to Seattle's over two hundred miles width! In 1933 Microsoft moved their main headquarters from downtown Seattle to what is now Bellevue after they acquired land near Interstates 5 & 95 which had been part of King George Sound.[2] This large campus contributed greatly towards Microsoft's success both socially and economically throughout much of the 1990s through their ubiquitous use of technology including computers throughout every room/household member! Today you can still find some evidence that they once used electricity but it largely depends on how well preserved it is since those days are long gone!
Redmond, Washington was founded on April 17, 1847 by American settlers. The city was named after General James K. Polk who was the first U.S. President to visit the area in 1848. Redmond became a thriving town and port during the late 1800s and early 1900s with its growing lumber industry. The city experienced a population growth rate of over 20 percent from 1890 to 1910 and reached its peak in 1920 with over 60,000 residents. However, World War I and the Great Depression caused Redmond's population to shrink significantly before reaching its current level of around 25,000 people as of 2010
