Puyallup, Washington is a small town in King County. The population was 1,595 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Puyallup River and its namesake creek. The first Europeans to arrival in what is now Puyallup were Willamette traders from Salem, Massachusetts who traveled up the Columbia River in search of new land to trade with indigenous peoples. They established a trading post on the banks of the river in 1851. In 1855, General Scott's army invaded Washington Territory and burned all but one building at Fort Nisqually (now Tacoma). The only building not destroyed was the old trading post which continued to be used as a storage depot for supplies by local farmers until it burned down in 1901. In 1865, Lieutenant Colonel George Condon built Fort Nisqually on an abandoned Indian village site about northwest of present-day Puyallup. The fort served as both a military installation and garrison for settlers living on adjacentranch lands that had been acquired through purchases from Native Americans during Puget Sound Treaty negotiations between United States President Abraham Lincoln and Chief Seattle. After Fort Nisqually's closure in 1870 due to budgetary concerns, settlers began erecting other buildings near present-day Puyallup including churches (1875), schools (1907), county courthouse (1910), Post Office (1920), grocery store (1925) and agricultural flour mill (1927). A few years later, work started on constructing a dam across the river at nearby Lake Union which would provide water power for mills while also creating a reservoir that would host fish hatcheries downstream. When completed in 1932, Lake Union became world's largest open-water lake; it remains so today.. After World War II, Puyallup experienced rapid growth as many new residents moved into the area following construction of highways connectingSeattle with Tacoma and Vancouver Island around Highway 99A/Ursula Drive. Many businesses opened their doors within minutes of being opened - such as Campbell Chevrolet Sales & Service located just east of I-5 south of downtown Everett when it opened its doors on November 3rd 1945; or Michael's Pizza location opposite I-5 southbound exit 6 which became operational just three days after American troops landed at Naval Station Everett aboard USS " Enterprise" early morning December 7th 1945; or First Christian Church which operated out of temporary quarters above Old Mill Foods store until January 1st 1951 when Pastor Bill Hinton organized them under The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints church affiliation.. During this period there was significant social change as well - between 1955 and 1965 there were more than 100 births per day reported at Puyallup Infirmary while abortions increased from 2 per 1000 pregnancies during 1960s to over 10 per 1000 during 1970s; or single parents began having children sooner rather than later since family homes were no longer available following prohibition against unmarried mothers working outside the home beginning in 1947... Puyallup is a town in the U.S. state of Washington, located on the Puget Sound Peninsula in King County. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. Puyallup was founded in 1881 as a small farming community on the site of an earlier Indian settlement, and it became an incorporated town in 1903. The name comes from French pouvant or "able to" because of its fertile soils and easy access to water resources. The first Europeans to visit what is now Puyallup were fur traders working for Russian fur trader Petertheimer in 1792-93. In 1811, James Kintz took over fur trading for Russian explorer George Vancouver from his brother-in-law, David Thompson; Kintz named his new venture Fort Vancouver after British Columbia's capital city of Victoria (now Vancouver). Englishman John Grigsby also traded with the Russians at Fort Vancouver before becoming headmaster at nearby Haida Gwaii School in 1824. After Russia acquired Alaska from America during the Napoleonic Wars (1812-14), British Columbia began losing control over its Far East possessions and granted Russias right to explore and trade with Alaska through a Treaty of Paris on July 14, 1867; this gave Russia exclusive rights to any land east of Siberia not claimed by America since 1783. In 1870, when American troops sacked Seattle during the Mexican–American War (1846-48), supplies moving through Puget Sound arrived prematurely at Fort Ross near Tacoma due to tight security measures; this led to increased maritime traffic along the coast and made Puyallup one of early people interested in developing agriculture within King County's limits." In addition to its role as a ranching center for Native Americans until about 1900, Puyallup played an important role during World War II as one of six municipalities within King County that furnished Logistical Services Command Headquarters Pantanal Missile Site 7 ("Noah's Ark") airfields around Ellensburg while those airfields functioned as training fields for Boeing bomber pilots such as Chuck Yeager who flew supersonic cars under experimental conditions at "Eagle" Airfield northwest of town on Stevens Pass before their first public display there October 16, 1947 prior to their first flight October 25th later that year." After years of decline due mostly to loss of jobs associated with lace production sparked by changing fashion trends among women throughout much larger cities following World War II which brought more opportunities for work outside rural areas across North America due technological advances including television sets and radios which started appearing regularly inside homes starting about 1951 combined with automobiles gradually supplanting horse drawn transportation throughout most parts of North America usage declined even further following every recession since then resulting in 8% population growth rate between 2000 and 2010 only 1% increase above trend rate which has resulted almost exclusively from internal migration instead external migration resulting in almost total lack thereof without corresponding increase or decrease elsewhere leaving residents struggling unsuccessfully trying unsuccessfully ever since 2006 hoping futilely some day change will happen finally results I am Dr Jerry Burch
