One of the earliest Coffee Lover Gift History events took place at Bistro du Midi in downtown Port Angeles back in 1974. That initial event was organized by then-Mayor John Cheney and featured representatives from various businesses in town as well as local dignitaries. At that time, Port Angeles was an absolute rural community with little to no exposure to the outside world. Therefore, this inaugural event was very important for bringing together our community and helping to develop relationships between our citizens and their government officials. Since then, annual Coffee Lover Gift histories have become quite popular within our community. Port Angeles, Washington is a town in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,639 as of the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern shore of Puget Sound and isadjacent to the town of Bellingham on its south side. The first Europeans to visit what is now Port Angeles were fur traders from Siberia in 1811. In 1819, George Vancouver explored Puget Sound and named it "Vancouver Island." In 1846, John C Harper discovered gold at Fort Nisqually and renamed it Port Angeles after him. The townsite was platted in 1865 by Wm Hinchliffe as part of his Terra Cotta Planner subdivision. In 1907, a hydroelectric plant was built at Nisqually Falls beneath present-day Seattle; however, this plant did not begin commercial production until 1936 when the Army Corps of Engineers constructed an artificial island called "Nisqually Dam". The town annexed Nisqually village in 1929; however, annexationterminated when that village's water supply became available from nearby Tacoma without involving Port Angeles. On July 1st 1990 Port Arica joining Kitsap County effective with that date made up 3% (2 out of 139)ofthe county's total population The port city has been home to many businesses and residents for over 100 years now helping to make it one of the most vibrant communities around today!

Port Angeles was founded in 1851 as the town of Cowlitz on Puget Sound. The town was named for Lieutenant George Vancouver, who explored the straits between Asia and North America in 1804. In 1861, Port Angeles became a city under the leadership of Mayor John A. Macdonald. The city experienced significant growth during World War II with the influx of servicemen and their families, which led to increasing development around Harbor Drive and the harbor itself. After World War II, Port Angeles experienced a decline in population due to suburbanization and changes in technology. However, recent revitalization has seen intense development around Wharf Street and downtown neighborhoods such as New Market Place and Sawyer Square.

The McLoughlins were successful businessmen and their home became a popular tourist destination for locals and visitors alike. In 1876, the townsite was purchased by the Pacific Railroad Company. The railroad built a depot in the town and started providing transportation to the surrounding villages. By 1910, Port Angeles had declined in popularity as a commercial center due to competition from Seattle and Tacoma. However, it remained an important stop on the railroad network until it was discontinued in 1951. In 1998, Port Angeles was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
