Our origins date back to 1984 when John and Sue Gorman opened their first small batch coffee shop in Newcastle on Orcas Island. Since then, we have continued to provide excellent customer service while using only the finest quality beans from around the world. Newcastle is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,826 at the 2010 census. Newcastle is part of the Pioneer Valley area. The first people to live in Newcastle were settlers from Prince George's County, Maryland and their families who came overland in wagons during the early 1800s. They founded a small town on the eastern edge of present-day Newcastle in 1854. The name "Newcastle" was chosen because it had been given to two other towns in King County by farmers looking for new land to farm: Northport and Leavenworth. In 1870, when gold was discovered near Newcastle, miners started arriving from all over Western Washington to find jobs as prospectors and then as cattle drivers and general contractors on the railway network that connected Seattle with Puget Sound. By 1880, Newfoundlanders had built more than 130 homes and businesses around what is now downtown Newcastle. The most significant development took place after World War II when many veterans returned home from service in Europe and Asia and began buying property around present-day Newcastle. This trend continued into the 1960s when many young adults moved into central Newcastle after graduating from high school or starting their own businesses. The growth of downtown led to an increase in traffic congestion which put strain on local schools; however, community groups have worked hard over the years to improve transportation options and create walking trails through downtown neighbourhoods such as Park Street Mall (the original commercial district) and Central Square Shopping Center (later known as McIntosh Square). Today, Newcastle remains a vibrant community with active citizens engaged in various aspects of its economy - including agriculture; business services; retail trade; creative arts; health care; education; environmental stewardship; social justice initiatives

Newcastle, Washington is a town in Yakima County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma metropolitan area. Newcastle was founded in 1855 by men from nearby Bellevue and Mount Vernon. The town was named after Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England. In 1907, the first post office opened in Newcastle and it continued to be operated until 1959. In 1911 the name of the town changed to Northgate because of an influx of people from Seattle who were moving away from their old businesses in Bellevue and Mount Vernon. Northgate remained unchanged until 1961 when it became Newcastle again due to another influx of people from Seattle. The original buildings that are still standing in Newcastle date back to 1855 when a sawmill and millrace were built along with a few stores and homes around what is now Main Street. The Town of Newcastle experienced some setbacks during its early years butFortunately they had help from Colonels George Armstrong Custer and William Tecumseh Sherman who donated land for schools, churches, hospitals etc., which later made up much of Yakima County today."Unfortunately" as these events transpired "the growth rate for many small towns throughout America slowed or stopped altogether during this time since there was no war on hand to stimulate business". In 1914 the Townsend brothers erected a large frame building on current day Main Street which served as their first store; this building still stands today thanks to donations by members of the community over years."During World War II", according to history website “ WW2 Veterans Memorial Museum”,"Northgate played an important role as Headquarters for First Battalion Puget Sound Marine Infantry Regiment located adjacent to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island".After Japan's surrender 1945 Allied forces flooded into Northwest Washington following Japan's surrender; this brought many new residents including many soldiers and sailors who had been living aboard ships off Puget Sound waiting for word that Japan was finished."Many new families moved into Northgate during those postwar days since most people here didn't have any relatives left behind in Japan". In 1930, Newcastle merged with neighboring towns to form the new City of Newcastle. Today, Newcastle is a thriving community with a rich history that has helped make it one of the most vibrant cities in Northwest America.
