The first coffee shop in Mukilteo was opened on December 5, 1971 by the husband and wife team of Don and Kathy Ketchum. The shop started small with two cups of coffee a day. By 1978, the Ketchums had built a large and successful business selling coffee throughout Mukilteo. In 1984, they moved their store to its current location at 301 First Avenue South. They continue to sell coffee until this day.
Mukilteo is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. It is the home of Boeing Puget Sound Region headquarters and 2nd largest city in the county by population. Mukilteo has been Place of Origin for over 100% of all Boeing products made in Washington. The town was founded on April 12, 1853 by Captain Nemiah C»>nnon and his wife Maria Avila Condon as "Nemiah's Landing" after they landed their ship nearpresent-day Mukilteo on April 12th, 1853. The first store in town opened its doors on October 15th, 1854. The first aircraft produced in Mukilteo were a single engine trainer named "Pioneer 8" which flew on December 9th, 1928 from Neskowin Field just east of town to McMahons Landing Airport southeast of town where it was destroyed following an accident with another training plane flown by Captains John Sowell and George Hoyle while testing new landing gear features for the Douglas DC-3 airliner family. This event also served as the genesis for what would become Boeing Puget Sound Region Headquarters located here since 1959 when Puget Sound Airlines moved its corporate headquarters from Seattle to Murphysboro, Illinois before relocating again to Everett in 1999. After several years of planning and construction - including complete demolition of two buildings located adjacent to Neskowin Field - Boeing Research & Development Center (later known as Microsoft Redmond) entered into operation here September 16th, 2007 becoming one of only three corporate headquarters located outside the US mainland within 500 miles (800 km). With more than 4 million square feet (400 ha), research laboratories and development facilities totaling more than $2 billion (€1 billion), this facility forms one half of what makes today’s Boeing “The World” company – making it ground zero for technologies that have shaped our world economy and our lives every day since 1957.
