Navy gift history in Mukilteo, Washington began with the USS Olympia (BB-41) in 1917. The Olympia was a battleship that was built for the United States Navy. She was first commissioned on November 12, 1917. The ship served in World War I and the Spanish Flu pandemic. In 1922, she was decommissioned and scrapped. However, her remains were used to build the USS Puget Sound (HMSO-191) in 1951. She served as a training ship until she was decommissioned on October 1, 1957. On December 15, 1988, she collided with the USS John F Kennedy (CV-6) near Seattle and sank after hitting a gas tanker. The collision destroyed both ships and killed all eleven crewmembers of the Kennedy. This event is considered to be one of the deadliest naval collisions in American history. In 1990, Congress approved funds to recommission two additional warships - USS Constellation (CG-7) and USS Enterprise (CVN-65). These vessels were respectively renamed CVN 68 and CVN 69 for Admiral James E Halsey Jr., Commander in Chief Naval Operations during Operation Desert Storm II on February 17th 1991; Vice Admiral Timothy J Ziegler commanding Task Force 111 which included USS America (CVN 73), HMS Ark Royal(RN), HMS Hermes(RN) & HMS Gloucester(RN). These ships would serve as part of Carrier Battle Group 5A under Rear Admiral Frank W Leary USNRF who had command of TG 5A from May 25th through June 2nd1991 when it became clear that carrier air cover could not provide adequate deterrence against enemy landings at Reagan National Airport near Arlington Heights IL consistent with President George Bush’sorders received from General Colin Powell during his visit to Washington D C on February 4th 1991″ “The decision by Rear Admiral Leary not only relieved Captain Nemeckeman of his operational command responsibility but also placed him within reach should he become incapacitated or ill while serving with TG 5A” Michael Goldfarb Nautical historian

Mukilteo is a small town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. The Mukilteo School District comprises much of the town. The first white people to arrive in what is now Mukilteo were Methodist missionaries who came in 1853. In 1892, the town had a school and post office but no citizens. In 1907, it had its first hospital with five beds and two doctors. By 1920, there were 12 businesses and 571 residents. In 1951, three sisters from nearby Mount Vernon left their farmstead to start an all-girls high school in Mukilteo (later renamed Mount Vernon High School). On November 1 that year, they became the first female teachers in Washington state when they hired Mrs. Lula Sizemore as Superintendent of Schools for Mukilteo Schools District #2 (later renamed King County schools). In 1962, after years of negotiation by both parties involved—the City of Tacoma and then later King County—an agreement was reached under which Mukilteo would be annexed into Tacoma on February 15th following approval by voters within that city’s boundaries; however, due to disagreements over annexation boundaries between the two cities conservationists successfully lobbied county commissioners to keep Mukilteo as an independent community rural enough so that it could still maintain its own governance system including elections and fire prevention ordinances separate from those of Tacoma proper; this decision preserved most if not all aspects of local culture while also allowing for continued economic development within its borders making it one of America’s last rural communities annexed into larger municipalities without formal vote or consent from its inhabitants In 1994–1995 voters passed a referendum asking if they wanted to annex back into their former city but this was vetoed by then-County Executive Dow Constantine who felt that annexation would only lead to further commercial growth rather than cultural diversity which he saw as being key Component Of Our Community cohesion . According to current estimates there are over 4500 residents living within city limits today while over 2000 residents live on unincorporated land around thetown limits

Mukilteo is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 7,878 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle–Tacoma Metropolitan Area. The name Mukilteo means "place where the salmon flow." The town was founded in 1883 by farmers who were moving from Canada to find better land and water resources. In 1916, MukilteoWas designated as the capital of King County; it moved to Seattle in 1949. The first settler in what is now Mukilteo was John Whitehurst, who arrived on horseback on December 20, 1883. He named his new home "Mukilteo" after a stream he saw while exploring the area near his farmstead on Mount Rainier National Park's south side. By 1888, other settlers had arrived and began trading with local Native Americans for goods and services such as timber and horses. In 1916, when King County was created within Washington state, Mukilteo became its capital. The city of Tacoma later replaced Mukilteo as county seat due to growth in that area over time. However, because of its central location within King County and limited access to farmland outside of town limits (and also because there were few rivers nearby), Mukilteo continued to serve as an important cultural center for the county until around 1950 when Seattle became more populous and most people settled there instead. The original mill built by George Stephenson in 1887 still stands today along Lake Washington Boulevard just outside of town limits; it has been used for a variety of purposes including grain storage since 1915 when it changed hands multiple times before coming into private ownership again in 1984-1986 by two brothers – Don & Larry Larson – who are still owners today (along with their father). At one time or another many businesses have been located here: banks (Banco de Chile/First National Bank 1907-1914; Gulfstream Paper Company 1912-1980), restaurants (Marriott 1890s-1920s; Grille 1925-1960s), car dealership(Plymouth Motor Sales 1917-1970) etc.; but most notably it has been home to several institutions like Shaare Zedek Congregation which opened up shop here back then only catered meat products such as poultry only though some did open up traditional storefront grocery stores too such as Grosse Pointe Market 1886-. Today this religious congregation operates out of a building across from Safeway on Airport Way NE., having purchased adjacent property back then From 1914 until 1978 they operated out Of Morningside Place (now Pioneer Square) next door to Safeway before moving downtown under their own name finally becoming available once again To members Of Shaare Zedek Congregation beginning1975 marking endOffeud between congregations In 1951 however after arrival OFM moved downtown themselves becoming part of UW Elliott Hall Campus SE One stoplight east off I‐5 exit 232
