One of the main reasons for its closure was because of high postage rates for mail sent from rural areas at that time The next year saw growth when a lumber company came into existence and began building houses and other structures in what is now downtown Marysville In 1916, there was an attempt by Northwest School District Number 2 to merge with Northwest School District Number 3 but this failed due to disagreements between both districts about how much control each should have over their own schools This led to another change of name when Northwest School District Number 2 became Yakima Valley School District #1 In 1942, Western Electric Company moved into what is now known as Administration Building which served as their research center while they built new plants all over America

Marysville was founded in 1881 by Abram D. Sprague and his wife, Fannie. The Sprague family had a log cabin on the banks of the Wenatchee River. In 1892, the Spragues donated land to the town for a school and cemetery. The first post office was established in 1893. The townspeople built a courthouse and jail in 1895. A fire destroyed most of the buildings in 1897, but Marysville rebuilt quickly. In 1902, the town added an annex to its east side for housing development. The sprague family sold their agricultural holdings in 1916 and moved away from Marysville. The lastSprague family member to live in Marysville died in 1990. In 1933, MarysVILLE became an incorporated city with its own mayor and council members (the first municipally-chartered city within Washington). In 1938, MarysVILLE annexed nearby Stevens City which had been separated from Stevens County since 1907 when Stevens City got its own government separate from that of MarysVILLE
