Lynnwood is a city in Washington, United States. The population was 26,873 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Thurston County. Lynnwood was founded in 1853 by members of the Methodist church, and became an incorporated town in 1892. It is located on the Kitsap Peninsula on Puget Sound between Seattle and Olympia. The city began as a small community on the east side of Lynnwood Lake near present-day Central Avenue and Euclid Street. In 1853, Methodist missionaries arrived in what is now Lynnwood to start a new branch of Christianity in what was then a virtually empty land area north of Seattle. They named their new settlement after Englishman Reverend David Lloyd Stephens, who had helped found what would become Tacoma in 1889. Reverend Stephens' group first built homes on land donated by local farmers, but soon realized that they needed more space to accommodate their expanding congregation and started looking for ways to purchase or build land closer to where they lived. When it came time for plans for government buildings in downtown Tacoma due to be constructed next door at what would become Northwest Trade Center, representatives from both cities met together to hammer out an agreement that would give both cities equal rights with respect to building sites within their respective boundaries – something that has been repeated ever since across Puget Sound! The first public meeting held under this new arrangement took place on October 16th, 1854 when officials from both towns voted unanimously to form a town association which would manage all aspects of town life including elections, property transactions etc., while still being under the jurisdiction of the Churches Board responsible for religious education within our communities! The name given to our fledgling community choice – “Lynnwood” – was based upon its location rather than any specific historical event or figure connected with it (as many other places around Puget Sound were)! After years of hard work by our Associations Boards and Volunteers over several decades we have today one of Washington’s most vibrant urban areas with over 26 thousand citizens living cheek by jowl amongst each other! Aboriginal people who inhabited this area prior to European arrival are known as Tsimshian or Tlingit because they hunted game along creek beds adjacent their villages situated near modern day Redmond and Bothell neighborhoods respectively during pre-contact times6 Lynnwood's current site was determined through archaeological excavations conducted between 1953-1957 using graphite pencils as excavation tools followed by photography negatives & sketches; these drawings were stored away until 1984 when photocopies were made & sent off into storage
