During World War II, Long View’s manufacturing capabilities helped contribute significantly to wartime production goals for Boeing Aircraft products. By 1945, Long View’s output had reached 2 million pounds of dried beans per year! Today, several hundred small businesses operate throughout the city with an impact on local commerce and culture.

In 1957, Wacoalco opened up its first store in Longview followed by Rio Tinto Brewing Company in 1980. In 1987, Anheuser Busch bought Wacoalco and renamed it Anheuser-BuschLongview Brewery. The brewery closed in 2001 but reopened as Longview Brewery Tours Inc., still operating today.

Longview is a town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 710 at the 2010 census. It has been part of the Spokane metropolitan area since 2001. The first permanent settler in what is now Longview was George Purdy, who arrived in 1855 and platted the town on land that he had bought from the Yakima Nation. The name "Longview" was given to it by General James Long, commander of US forces during the Mexican-American War. In 1876, an act of Congress designated Thurston and Spokane counties as Indian reservations; only citizens of those counties were allowed to vote on these issues. In 1886, when white settlers began arrive in high numbers to Longview, they Selected Jens Jensen as their first mayor and built a courthouse and jail there. In 1901, after years of discussion among various factions within the local community about whether or not to become part of Spokane metropolitan area – which would have included Longview – voters opted to do so. The merger created a new city government with its own police department and fire Department; however, without any public transportation available within the new city limits (long distance bus service did exist within Spokane), many residents struggled to get around. It wasn't until 1959 that a modern light rail system called Union Pacific Railway's Keyworth Branch opened up through Longview into downtown Spokane; this made long distance bus travel much more accessible for residents
In 1855, the town of Longview was founded by James Lea and his family. The community was named after George Long, a congressman from Oregon who had served in the U.S. Congress before moving to Washington Territory in 1851. The first store opened in 1857 and the first post office was called "Longview" until it changed its name to "Washougal" in 1865. In 1861, Washougal became part of what is now King County and Longview remained a farming community until the early 20th century when manufacturing began to grow in the area. By 1915, there were 10 businesses operating in Longview and over 100 residents employed in various trades. In 1925, long-distance telephone service started operations from Longview and local businesses soon grew dependent on phone services for marketing their products as well as business needs such as shipping materials.
