The National Guard of the United States of America was founded on July 4, 1907 by President Theodore Roosevelt. The first national guard unit was organized in Lake Forest Park, Washington. The unit was nicknamed the “Blue Angels” because they flew over American cities during World War I. In 1938, the National Guard became an all-volunteer force and began providing security for federal buildings and other public sites. In 1940, the Guard helped secure the opening of Seattle’s new Olympic Games. In 1946, Congress passed a law that gave the Guard authority to respond to any emergency in the United States. This made it possible for local communities to call on the Guard for assistance with tasks such as policing, firefighting, or riot control. On September 1, 1954, President Dwight D Eisenhower authorized all military branches within the Department of Defense to establish their ownNational Guardsmen units under their respective command structures. This allowed for more direct control over National Guardsmen who could be called into action where needed most. The first such unit was established in Fort Worth, Texas on November 16th of that year. Since its inception as a volunteer force in 1907, the National Guard has played an important role in our country’s history and culture throughout many wars and crises dating back to 1814 when Westerners invaded Mexico City and set up their own government there without consulting our Mexican counterparts! Today’s National Guard enjoys an proud traditions stretching back centuries – from flying alongside US aircrew during World War II to fighting alongside US Marines during Operation Neptune Spear – some of which have still not been completed!

The National Guard is the military reserve component of the United States government. Also known as the Army Reserve or National Guard, it is a term usually used for soldiers and airmen who have completed their basic training and are not currently on active duty in the regular army or navy. The National Guard was established in 1903 by an act of Congress, and its first unit was raised in New York City. Over time, the National Guard has grown to include all U.S. states and many international partners. Today, there are approximately 121 million members of the National Guard in America—roughly one third of all federal military forces—and they play a critical role in our defense system. National guard gifts have been a part of American culture for centuries. Even before independence from Great Britain, American revolutionaries passed legislation authorizing citizens to raise militias to fight any future British invasions. In 1792, President George Washington issued an executive order creating a national guard corps composed of militia men from each state—the first time that such a thing exists today outside of extraordinary circumstances (e.g., war). The 1st Regiment Pennsylvania Infantry was activated on January 20th, 1793 at Whitehall Palace under control of General James Knoppers (later Superintendent General). In 1814 during the Mexican-American War, President James Knoppers recommended that American citizens donate money to support Mexican troops fighting against Ulysses S Grant’s Union forces because “[t]here could be no more effectual contribution than this [money] could make towards enabling those who were devotedly attached to us to sustain themselves with what little food they had left; while others would do everything possible for substitutes should we be forced by arms into engagements which must terminate fatally for them . . .” This policy helped contribute significantly to Mexico’s victory over Grant and his Confederate allies at Chapultepec Hill – one of several campaigns where American volunteers played significant roles throughout history (see also: Battlefields tourism program)). In 1912 Congress authorized appropriations for the purchase and shipment abroadof rifles and other equipment necessary for forming regiments or battalions thereof within 48 hours after declaration of war by president Woodrow Wilson; this law formed what is now called The Model Law Of Regimental organization And Equipment For The Militia (10 U.S Code § 7055). On July 16th 1916 – just two months after World War I began – President Wilson announced that all male citizens between 18 years old and 45 years old were required to register with his Department Of Defense asnational guardsmen; registration closed on November 14th 1916 concurrent with general draft day (see also: Draft dodgers)). On October 27th 1932- less than one year after Franklin D Roosevelt became president- FDR signed Executive Order 6102 designating patriotic organizations such as local chapters Sons Of Liberty & Masons as social welfare organizations auxiliary thereto within Civilian Conservation Corps programs) To wit: “The purpose thereof shall be wholly non-partisan but it may include activities which uplift morale among civil service employees regardless race or color…A social welfare auxiliary organization shall not receive Federal funds unless it meets all these qualifications: 1) It engages primarily in charitable work through its own subsidiaries or affiliates which provide services free from discrimination based upon race or religion; 2) Its operations are confined within specific geographical areas without affecting undue sectarianism among other agencies participating therein; 3) It does not engage in partisan politics
