When the first coffee beans were roasted in Lacey, Washington, it was a major step forward for the coffee industry. The town of Lacey is located on the Columbia River and has been a center for coffee production since before there was such a thing as coffee. The first large-scale roasting operation in Lacey took place in 1884 by John Pemberton and Harry Smith. By 1912, some of the most famous names in contemporary American brewing were based here – including Peet’s Coffee and Starbucks. Lacey played an important role in early Seattle caffeine culture as well. Many of the early pioneers who founded Seattle’s espresso scene came from here – including Tom Thumb, Gus Hargrave, and Cliff Young. In fact, many of today’s best-known cafes or restaurants in Seattle are either owned or operated by people who have had their roots here – like Gary Richey at Roy Moore Coffee & Donuts or Tim Ferriss at Four Barrel Coffee. The history of artisan coffee is deeply rooted in America itself. From small-scale roasting operations to multi-billion dollar conglomerates, artisanal coffee has always been part of America's cultural landscape – whether we're talking about Java Joe's down on 5th Avenue or Peet's inside CenturyLink Field these days! And while there are definitely other great places to get your java fix (like North Beach Coffee Roasters near Chinatown), it's hard not to be inspired by all thatLacey has contributed to our national drink over the years. So when you hear about someone like La Colombe Fiasco contestant Adam Goldstein working hand-in-hand with a local roaster like Bob Bickerton to develop two new blends featuring local fruit and grasslands drippings right on top – it just makes everything feel more special…right?

The coffee industry has been around for over 200 years and it is no wonder that there are so many different types of coffee beans. Artisan coffees, also known as unroasted or raw, come from small-scale farmers who roast their own beans. These coffees have a unique flavor because they are not roasted in large commercial factories. The process of roasting the beans takes time and skill, which results in a higher quality cup of coffee than those produced by larger businesses. Origins Artisan coffee was first created in small villages throughout Europe. Roasters would painstakingly select the best raw materials for their cups of coffee, careful to maintain an intimate relationship with their customers. This delicate balance between artisans and consumers helped to create one of the most unique cuisines on earth. It is now possible to purchase artisanal coffee all over the world, thanks to online retailers like Amazon and eBay. Ingredients & Processes While there are many different types of artisanal coffee beans, all share one common denominator: They are ground fresh every morning before hitting the market. This allows for a more intense flavor profile and a finer texture than those made in larger factories. In addition to being ground fresh, each bean is also hand-poured into individual mugs or pots using very fine grounds that allow for greater nuance in flavor than those produced by automated machines.
The first coffee was roasted by a man named beans in 1795. Coffee was originally ground and brewed using either animal or human feces.
