Kennewick is a small town in the state of Washington, located about an hour and a half drive from Seattle. The population was 3,868 at the 2010 census. Kennewick is considered to be a rural community with rolling hills as well as some gently rolling plains that dot its landscape. It has a strong agricultural roots, with many of the town's residents working in agriculture or ranching. The area where Kennewick now stands was first settled by Indians in the early 1800s. When white people arrived in this area in the mid-19th century they began building what would become Kennewick around 1871. At first, most of the land around today's town was used for growing corn and hay; however, over time it became known for its mineral resources including coal and gold. In 1907, when Kennewick incorporated as a town, it had just under 1,000 residents. Today, there are over 4,000 people living in Kennewicktown - nearly all of whom are employed within its various economic sectors: agriculture (including cattle and poultry production), manufacturing (including leather production), transportation and warehousing services, education (including postsecondary institutions), government (particularly local law enforcement) and health care services. The history of Kennewick can be traced back to 1871 when two Dakota brothers named George Boesch founded what would become known as The Boesches' homestead on land that now lies east of present day Kennewick off State Route 2A. George Crouch also established himself here after coming across rich deposits of coal and gold near his farmstead on June 25th 1870 while prospecting for these minerals west of present day Topeka Kansas Territory. Soon after construction began on The Boesches' mill which ran until 1904; other local businesses followed suit such as lumberyards and grocery stores before becomingKnox Stores Incorporated on January 5th 1909 which along with other industry growth led to increased population density which by 1940 had reached 629 residents living inside what is now downtown Kennewiktown limits Today's economy largely revolves around providing essential municipal services such as public housing developments operated through Housing Authority of America/Tenant Management Services (HAPAS) - one example being One Way House #5 which opened in 2009 situated just eastside Of Main Street North next door to Orchard Park Elementary School - retail tenants include H&M Department Store & Pharmacy located across from Safeway since 2001 & KFC corporate store open since 1984 adjacent to Richland High Schoolmath classrooms

During the 18th century, European settlers began moving into North America and developing new industries such as shipping and agriculture. One of these entrepreneurs was Johnlatable Sloat who imported African slaves to work on his plantations near Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1786-87. Kennewick is a town in Thurston County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,827 at the 2010 census. Kennewick is the most populous of the Thurston County towns and has been since its incorporation into Thurston County in 1871. It is located on the banks of the Stillaguamish River. The first permanent settler in what became Kennewick was David Crayton who erected a cabin on land he had purchased from Chief Seattle in 1814. The first white settlers were Jacob and Susannah Goodyear who arrived in 1821. By 1826, all but one of the original ten families had left for good because of difficult living conditions and Native American hostilities towards whites. In 1850, John Wesley Potter decided to move his family to what would become Kennewick after hearing about a large tract of land east of Tacoma that was available for purchase by someone willing to sell water rights as well as minerals including gold nearby. He named his new town Potter's Landing after himself and began buying lots from pioneers throughout what would become Kennewick. In 1861, Potter founded the first post office in what would become Kennewick with two bricks sent off by wagon from Tacoma to his home riverfront property near present day Snohomish Creek Bridge just before Christmas that year; this location served until 1915 when a new post office was built on First Avenue Northeast near where current day Stadium Drive meets Interstate 5 (the old site now occupied by Pacific Northwest University). In 1870, Arent Hocking organized an election to form a board of commissioners for what would be then known as Walden Township which included parts of today's southcentral Thurston County. At this point only three other towns had been incorporated into Thurston County: Wenatchee, Olympia and Auburn (formed in 1889). After much debate over boundaries between Walden Township and adjoining communities it was decided that all future towns within Thurston Counties should be incorporations under one board with power over everything within their boundaries - an arrangement that continued until 1975 when Wenatchee joined the county while Olympia did not due to political differences over education funding%. By 1890, local farmers were using hand carts or wagons drawn by teamsters downriver to haul goods upriver to market during summers months when Sherman Lake filled up so trading could take place without having to leave town; this made shipping important for earlyKennewick businesses such as Potters' Lumber & Boxes which handled both freight and passenger shipments across Sherman Lake during prohibition era years(1912-1920) . Kennewick was founded in 1847 as the first town in Washington Territory. It was named for General George Kennewick, who had served in the Mexican-American War and then been elected as a U.S. Senator from Oregon. The town developed slowly until it became an important transportation center during the early days of Washington Territory. Kennewick also served as the temporary capital of Washington Territory from 1849 to 1850. In 1861, the capital moved to Tacoma and Kennewick reverted back to its original name.
