Kenmore, Washington is a town in Clark County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,522 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Clark County. The first European settlers in what would become Kenmore were George Vancouver and his brother William Heathcote who arrived on July 24, 1811 from England aboard the "Discovery". They named their small settlement after their home town of Kent, England. The first post office was established in 1813 and was called Appleton (later renamed Kenmore). In 1825, John Cavanaugh built a sawmill on the east side of the Columbia River just south of present-day downtown Kenmore. This mill became one of the largest mills in Oregon and served as an important economic engine for several years until it closed in 1857. During World War II, a munitions plant operated by Northrop Grumman in nearby Cheney produced TNT and other explosives for use in Japan's Continuation War effort. The closure of Northrop Grumman's munitions plant led to increased unemployment among local residents and city officials began looking into ways to develop new industries within reach of Kenmore proper rather than send people away to work at faraway factories. In 1951, Municipal Master Plan No. 2 called for development of an area bounded by Maple Street on the north; First Street on the east; Nevada Avenue on the south; and Union Boulevard on the west which would become known as Downtown Kenmore today. Development began soon after with various shops popping up along MapleStreet including a bank (now known as Wells Fargo), an insurance company ( now GEICO ), two movie theaters ( One 12 screens wide Plus two 15 screens wide), three restaurants/bars (including one that still operates today), four doctors' offices (one now Kaiser Permanente ), five apartments buildings totaling over 100 units , four shopping centers totaling over 150 acres including Regency Mall which opened in 1973 - all while providing job training for local residents working during those early days at some point or another! Downtown Kenmore has since undergone many upgrades such as widening sidewalks throughout most areas between MapleStreeet and NevadaAve., adding more parking spaces near Ground Zero due to prohibitive zoning regulations put into place after 9/11/, rebuilding nearly every building that once thrived along First Streeet following major fires including one almost 20 years ago that destroyed much part of what used to be DowntownKenMORE - making it both vibrant and historic again! Today however much progress has been made but MUCH MORE MUST BE DONE TO KENMORE BEFORE IT CAN REALLY LIVE UP TO ITS HISTORY!

Kenmore is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,926 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County and home to the Kenmore Naval Air Station. The first permanent settler in what would become Kenmore was Nicholas Ostrovsky in 1851. A post office called Nachesen was established in 1852, and the town of Kenmore was platted in 1857. The name of the town comes from local water sources that were so clean they resembled ice cream. In 1861, during American Civil War hostilities between the Confederate States of America and the Union side, General John Custer's command attempted unsuccessfully to cross over into Washtenaw County through what is now downtown Kenmore on July 3rd after being ordered by President Abraham Lincoln not to do so due to its strategic location on a major northwest transportation route linking Detroit with Seattle and Portland. As a result of this event, many people throughout central King County fled southward towards Mount Pleasant or Olympia before returning home when hostilities ended two weeks later A post office called Nachesen remained open until 1907; during that time it served as an agricultural center for around 100 farmers who grew corn, beans, potatoes and other vegetables near their homespun dwellings made from hickory logs and other local materials. In 1905-06 there was construction of a new main street which ran east-west along present day First Avenue; however because most citizens preferred to go about their lives using First Avenue as their primary street name (due to its appearance), it reverted back to Nachesen upon opening day Some residents did move away from Nachesen after World War II due to increased noise levels created by Boeing factory activities nearby; however most residents still lived within walking distance of each other In 1949-1950 work began on building what would eventually become known as Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay—the first US military installation built specifically for naval aviation in Hawaii since Pearl Harbor—and shortly afterwards Marines arrived at Nachesen AFB bringing with them some 50 civilian contractors who were responsible for everything from designing airfields and barracks to erecting roads and bridges The original part of Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay became known as Saint Mary's Point while parts closer to Navy Yard became known as Nimitz AFB while those further away such as Kaneohe Bay developed into today's Joint Forces Command Headquarters adjacent thereto As part of Operation Neptune Spear—a NATO counterinsurgency campaign against Taliban insurgents–Marine forces moved into St Mary's Point on 15 December 2009 following completion of their initial occupation mission which had lasted three months On 4 January 2010 aerial video footage captured by an MH370 passenger plane flying over Malaysian airspace showed activity ashore at Saint Mary's Point which led authorities eventually declare that one or more bodies had been discovered there but no formal determination has yet been made regarding whether these are those belonging to missing passengers or not
