Air Force gift history in Ferndale, Washington began with the creation of the United States Air Force on October 14, 1947. The USAF was created to provide air defense for the country and its citizens. The mission of the USAF became clear after World War II when America's enemies attacked her soil. With no available fighter aircraft to defend against these threats, the USAF was created to provide a force that could do so. The first planes used by the USAF were propeller-driven trainers known as P-38 Lightning fighters. These aircraft were not able to fly long distances and were not very efficient at attacking enemy targets. In order to improve on these shortcomings, General George C Marshall ordered his commanders to develop jet aircraft capable of flying long distances and engaging enemy targets at high speeds. The USAAF developed two types of jet planes; the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Bomber and Lockheed P-38 Lightning Fighter. The Boeing bomber was designed as a strategic bombers that could fly long distance while still being able to attack enemy targets near or far away from home. The Lockheed fighter was designed as a fast single seat fighter that could engage multiple enemies at once while flying over open areas. These two types of jets were put into service during World War II soon after their development began. During World War II, there was an abundance of money available for research and development by all belligerentsparticipating in this war effort including America which led to many technological innovations such as jet aviation which we use today Day in and day out throughout our world peacekeeping missions ensuring global security

Ferndale is a small town in Washington state, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee-King County Micropolitan Statistical Area. Ferndale is situated on the banks of the Snake River and has an agricultural area that includes corn, soybeans, wheat, and other crops. The name "Ferndale" comes from John Ferndale's farmstead on Main Street. The first settlers in what is now Ferndale were farmers who arrived around 1847. By 1872, there were over 30 families living in the town. In 1924, a sawmill and grist mill were built in what is now downtown Ferndale by local farmers. These mills helped to feed Ferndale into the 20th century and continue to produce today. In 1995, a new high school was opened in downtown Ferndale which has since been used as a community center and library. Today, many people live in ferindales across Washington state due to its growing economy and easy access to education opportunities outside of Seattle or Olympia; this makes for an interesting mix of cultures when traveling through the area!

The USAF gifted its first jetfighter, the Lockheed P-38 Lightning, to the RAF in 1938. The USAF flew its first jets, the F-84 Thunderjet, in 1945. In 1958, the USAF gave Boeing an airplane designed by General Electric—the 707—to be used as a bomber and transport aircraft. The USAF also became a partner of McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation in 1960 and began developing the DC-8 airliner for commercial air travel.
Ferndale is a town in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 1,867 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland metropolitan area. Ferndale was founded in 1887 by James Ewing and his brother-in-law David Dudley Wright as a small agricultural community on the banks of the Willamette River. The name "Ferndale" comes from nearby Cumberland Park and was chosen because it resembled "ferndale," an English landing on Vancouver Island during British Columbia's Gold Rush era. The town began to grow rapidly after fernery became one of the largest commercial fishing operations in Oregon. Many people who arrived in early 1800s were farmers seeking cheap land to farmed orchards and vineyards that would provide them with food for their families while they built up their businesses ashore or transported goods overland to ports on Puget Sound. By 1887, many residents had moved into town and started various businesses such as grocery stores, flour mills, lumber mills, dance halls and other enterprises typical of rural Oregon towns of that time: fernery (a word meaning both "west" and a place where fish could be caught), doctor's office (the first clinic in Oregon), bakery (completed in 1889), post office (opened in 1890), schoolhouse (1892) and several churches including First Baptist Church which served as the first national Protestant denomination to offer services within America outside London Missionary Society congregations.
