The history of small batch coffee in Federal Way, Washington can be traced back to the early 1900s. One of the first coffee shops in Federal Way was The Coffee Shop, which opened its doors in 1907. The store was located on First Avenue and Cherry Street. In 1915, The Coffee Shop relocated to Seventh Avenue and Oregon Street and became known as The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. In 1925, the shop moved again, this time to Second Avenue and Union Street. In 1942, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf merged with another local business, The Java House Cafe. That same year, the Java House Cafe closed down but reopened as a small batch coffee shop called Blue Bottle Coffee Company. It is interesting to note that despite having disappeared from our town over 30 years ago (Blue Bottle Café only operated for 3 years), small batch coffee has not gone away completely: some people continue to make it at home using various methods including those mentioned previously (baking beans into pouches or making a pour-over).

Federal Way is a city in the U.S. state of Washington located on the borders of King County and Pierce County. As of the 2010 census, Federal Way had a population of 58,611. The city was founded in 1851 by John Sibley as Wenatchee City and became a town in 1907. It was renamed Federal Way in 1959 after then-Senator Everett Dirksen (D-WA). In 2013, it became an official city within King County. The first permanent European settlers came to what is now Federal Way around 1792 when Captain James Kipp made his landing on Puget Sound from British Columbia with three ships commanded by his brother David Kipp at Point Defiance Baycache, today's Olympic Peninsula. He named the area Wenatchee City after his wife's family name, Wenatchee being one word for "water" and "city" being another word for "town". The first store opened in this location on May 6, 1851 by Jno Cockerill under the title of J&J Well Fargo & Trust Company…. In 1907, when Wenatchee City became a town, its citizens voted to change its name to Federal Way so that it would be more associated with the United States government than Wenatchee itself which was then known as Tacoma. The vote took place because most residents did not feel comfortable with their hometown becoming just another suburb of Seattle or Tacoma depending on political events happening closer to home like Congress or President Reagan’s inauguration ceremonies! Aboriginal people had been living near present day Interstate 5 for centuries before white settlement began; some refer to them as “the original Americans” due to their involvement with early white settlement activities hereabouts including helping build roads and bridges precursor to modern highway construction efforts! Today’s downtown core has evolved significantly over time thanks largely to two dedicated public servants: Mayor Donny Youngblood and Police Chief Rick Caldwell both who have led our great city through thick and thin during these past four decades! We are blessed every day with friends like Rick – he truly cares about making sure all citizens can enjoy their quality of life while keeping ourSafety top priority!
