The marines have been deployed in Everett, Washington for more than a century. The first marines arrived in the area in 1846 and during World War I they served on the Western Front. Everett is home to two marine brigades: Headquarters Battalion (HBN) and 3rd Battalion (3-B). There are also three companies of marines serving as infantry support units: Company A (CA), Company B (CB), and Company C (CC). These companies provide an amphibious capability that can be used for both land operations and sea operations. The battalion Landing Team 2nd Marines provides river landing capabilities across the Sound of Juan de Fuca. The marines have a rich history that dates back to 1846 when they first arrived in the area. The Everett Marine Regiment was a military unit stationed in Everett, Washington during World War II. The regiment was composed of marines who had volunteered for service and were paid by the government to do so. In 1942, the regiment was redesignated the 1st Marine Division. The division fought in both World War II and the Korean War. In 1951, the 1st Marine Division was disbanded and its marines were absorbed into other divisions. However, the Marines of the Everett Marine Regiment continue to serve with distinction as part of various units throughout America today.
Everett, Washington is a small town in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. The population was 5,514 at the 2010 census. Everett is located on the eastern edge of the Yakima Valley and its elevation ranges from 1,545 to 2,163 feet (500 to 750 m). The first people to live in what is now Everett were Native Americans who hunted and gathered game around what is now downtown Everett. In 1855, John Wesley Powell discovered gold near present-day Auburn and claimed it for America. The discovery led to an influx of settlers into Puget Sound and by 1860 there were over 100 people living in Everett. In 1865, Captain George Vancouver named this area "Everett" after his friend James Everett who had settled in that part of Washington Territory. By 1870, most of the original residents had died from disease or violence brought about by gold discoveries elsewhere in Puget Sound. A few families remaining moved back into Everett until 1907 when prohibition made mining and fishing illegal within state lines. Mining continued until 1969 when all mining within state boundaries was banned except for rare earths mining conducted out of Thurston County outside Seattle proper which continues today as extenuating circumstances excuse this industry from federal regulation

Everett is a small town in Yakima County, Washington, United States. The population was 7,906 at the 2010 census. Everett is located on Yakima River and the river's outlet into Puget Sound. The city was founded in 1856 by George Mercer and has grown gradually since then to its current size. The first settlers were Scottish immigrants who arrived in 1851. A post office called Mercer was established in 1857, and the town name originated from this initial reference. The first store in Everett opened on October 15, 1856, when George Mercer opened his store at 12 NW First Street. In 1860, he built a house at 318 West 6th Avenue which became known as the Mercer House. In 1865, he moved his business to what is now 9th Avenue NW and Peach Street NW. He also donated land for a school which opened in 1870 named after him and his wife Lucretia Cushing Mercer (1821-1912). After her death in 1912, their son Clifford H. In 1862, Everett became a port of entry for the Union army during the American Civil War, and saw heavy combat. The town's economy grew thanks to its location on Puget Sound, as well as its access to shipping and fishing resources. The population increased rapidly after World War II; in 1950, Everett had over 60,000 residents. After being annexed by Seattle in 1956, Everett experienced rapid growth again due to annexation opportunities across the city's boundaries. In recent years, Everett has seen a decline in its economic vitality; it is now one of Seattle's most populous neighborhoods.
