The Edmonds Marine Museum has a rich marine history dating back to the 1860s when it was first established as the Pacific Fisheries Company. Edmonds is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 4,856 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County and home to the Edmonds Municipal Airport. The name "Edmonds" is derived from English settlers who named the area after their friend and business partner Edwin Everett (1809-1892), an early resident of Seattle. The first Europeans to visit what is now Edmonds were Francisco de Portocarrero and his men on July 12, 1792. They landed onsound off the coast of Gig Harbor near present-day Edmonds before continuing upriver for about two weeks looking for another landbase to establish a new colony in what would become the Northwest Territory. In 1851, James Waddell founded Puget Sound Brewery in downtown Edmonds with help from his brother Amos Waddell. James Waddell became president and owner of Puget Sound Brewing Company in 1912 when it merged with Seattle Brewing Company Limited. In 1876, territorial voters passed an act authorizing purchase by any person interested in acquiring all or part of lands within latitude 45 degrees north and longitude 122 degrees east of Washington's normal meridian for school purposes only; this Act led to creation of Kitsap School District #1 which included parts of today's Edmonds, as well as Olympia and Des Moines townships adjacent to that district boundary until 1959 when they were annexed into King County. On November 5, 1881, Kitsap School District #2 was created including parts adjoining that district boundary until 1959 also when they became part of King County under statehood laws passed by sound vote on December 3rd following passage by Congress Of The Northwest Territory Organic Act No. 7 (22 Statutes at Large 675). During World War II residents worked naval shipyards located along Puget Sound shorelines building submarines such as USS Screpit (SS-224) for America during 1942-1945 while other communities developed recreational facilities like Tacoma’s Abele Park beach with its own water supply Additionally many people served in military forces during WWII including Private First Class David Lyle who enlisted September 15th 1941 aged 23 years old from Aberdeen
