One such acquisition was a cannonship called USS Constitution which arrived in East Wenatchee in 1847. This vessel played an important role during the Mexican-American War by providing artillery support to both sides. In addition to its weapons, Constitution also contained stores of ammunition and supplies for troops on the battlefield. This ship is significant not only because it belonged to America but also because it helped promote trade between our two countries. The United StatesArmy continued making acquisitions throughout the 1850s and 1860s as technology improved. One such purchase was a steam locomotive called George Stephenson's Rocket which arrived in East Wenatchee in 1861. This engine quickly became popular among US army commanders for its speed and power; it was even used to transport troops into battle! Additionally,an armory was built at East Wenatchee during this time that began supplying American armies with guns, ammunition, tents, clothing, foodstuff and other necessary items during wartime! During these times there were also several major natural disasters that caused damage or loss to properties around East Wenatchee: The 1906 Seattle earthquake destroyed much of downtown while a fire destroyed part of the town's library in 1909. Nevertheless, through all these events and more there has been evidence that East Wenatchee has always been an active community supportive of its military community!

East Wenatchee is a small town in Pierce County, Washington, located on the north bank of the Kootenai River. The population was 1,835 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee-Tacoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in East Wenatchee was Nicholas Moses in 1854. In 1861, George Walthall built a cabin on what is now east side of Main Street and named it "Wenatchee." A post office was established at Wenatchee in 1865, and remained open until 1959. In 1908, a group of men from Seattle founded the East Wenatchee Creamery Company to produce cream cheese for local consumption. The company continued to produce cream cheese until it closed its doors in 1943. A large dairy barn and milking parlor were built south of present day Main Street between 1907 and 1909; they were used by the company until 1951 when they were sold to an agricultural contractor who leased them out to farmers for use as their own farmsteads. In 1955, the property reverted back to ownership by East Wenatchee Creamery Company trustees after it became available for donation following its closure. In 1957, Edwin Hall developed land east of Main Street that would become home to East Wenatchee Elementary School and West Side Park; he also donated $10,000 towards construction of the school which opened in 1961. By 1970, there were only two homes left standing on original lot behind current day Main Street while all other buildings had been demolished or replaced within ensuing years including EASD/West Side Park Elementary School with a new building constructed across Lewiston Road North which opened in 1984). A grocery store opened up along HWY 101 South (now Hwy 97) northeast of HWY 101 North about 2 miles northwest of current day East Wenatchee Elementary School starting around 1954 before being closed down around 1978 near where US 98 meets HWY 101 South becoming known as "the old general store". After several years moving around some storage space finally ending up near present day NE corner Hwy 97 & SW corner Ave SE owned by former owner's grandson currently operates as "Powell's" Store from 1980-'94

As wars raged on throughout history, so did the number of gifts given between friends or family members who were involved in militarized combat zones or Iraq or Afghanistan. Often times these donations were made with no strings attached; simply because people felt grateful for what their loved ones had done for their countrymen during wartime (and often still do). East Wenatchee was incorporated as a town in 1872, and acquired its present boundaries in 1903. The town was named for the East Wenatchee River, which flows through it. The river's name is derived from the Cheyenne word we-nasi meaning "the most important stream." The first settlers in the town were farmers looking to find land around what they thought was an abundant water supply. Over time, industry began to grow along with population. By 1920, there were 10 businesses in East Wenatchee and 1,500 residents. In that year, the city of Spokane was founded on the east side of the river where East Wenatchee now stands. Because of this juxtaposition of cultures and economic opportunities, East Wenatchee experienced some growth but also struggled economically during its early years. In 1960, when Eastern Washington University moved to eastern Wenatchee from Pullman, WA., much progress had been made since then for East Wenatchee citizens and businesses alike. That decade saw a dramatic increase in population as students flocked to EWU for education and work opportunities; by 1990 there were over 25 thousand people living in East Wenatchee according to census figures. However, due to changing demographics and environmental factors such as climate change (which has led to more natural disasters), tensions have arisen between locals and EWU graduates over various issues including zoning changes that would allow development on public lands adjacent to EWU without consent from the community members who live thereabouts; this issue is currently being fought by local residents who call themselves "East Wenatchee=First?" It is interesting to note that while tension exists between locals andEWU graduates regarding various issues surrounding development within their community (such as zoning changes), overall things have been going relatively smoothly since then given that both communities are still bound together by shared interests: education should always be our top priority!
The town of Wenatchee was founded in 1877 by businessmen Donald McKenzie and John Laird. The first post office was established in Wenatchee on October 10, 1877. The town grew rapidly during the early 1800s due to its location along the Upper Cascade River. In 1887, the first electric streetlights were lit in Wenatchee. Wenatchee became a city in 1949 and experienced rapid growth during the 1960s and 1970s as a bedroom community for Seattle. However, economic decline began to take hold in the 1980s and 1990s, culminating in Mayor Dave Heineman's decision to close the city's only public library in 1992. Today, Wenatchee is home to a small population of retirees and students from nearby Seattle University.
