Coffee has been a part of the lives of many people in East Wenatchee for some time now. One of the earliest coffee roasters in town, Pabst Brewing Company, was founded in 1887 by Wilhelm Pabst and his son Harry. In 1907, J.B. Roebuck and Sons opened their own coffee house on First Street in East Wenatchee. By 1916, there were 10 cafes in the town with over 1,500 customers! The first espresso machine was installed at Pabst Brewing Company in 1922. The popularity of Starbucks has not slowed down since they opened up shop here in 1994! It is part of Wenatchee-Douglas County. The name "Wenatchee" originated from an Iroquoian word meaning "the place where great canoes used to come." The first European settlers in East Wenatchee were traders and missionaries who arrived in 1847. They named their settlement "Erie" in honor of Erie County, New York, where they had been living before coming to Seattle. In 1907, East Wenatchee became part of the city of Seattle and was renamed "Wenatchee". In 1959 it became again a village when it annexed the neighboring town of Silver Lake. During World War II, East Wenatchee served as one of two Battlefields within Olympic National Park (along with Battle Creek). Today there are several businesses that survive on military sales like munitions and energy products to support local jobs during wartime while also preserving cultural heritage like army recruiting posters from WWII which have been preserved for generations now

East Wenatchee is a small town located in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Wenatchee–Chelan City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was first settled by people from eastern Canada in the late 1800s. In 1912, East Wenatchee incorporated as a city. It remained an unincorporated community until 1959 when it became known as East Wenatchee and Chelan County. In 1971, the city annexed the neighboring town of Stevensville and expanded its boundaries to include all of King County west of Interstate 5. Today, East Wenatchee is home to many businesses and services including a library, police department, post office and hospital.
The East Wenatchee area was first settled by the Chelan and Kootenai tribes in the late 18th century. The tribe's chief, Chief Joseph, built a trading post on the east side of the Wenatchee River in 1792. In 1851, gold was discovered in the nearby towns of Lewiston and Goldendale, and early settlers began to arrive to find a new home. The East Wenatchee region became known as "the Gold Rush Region". In 1865, the U.S. Army established Fort George Wright at present-day Wenatchee Falls to manage American Indian resources along the east bank of the Wenatchee River. After World War II, conflict between United States military forces and local Native American groups led to increased violence and economic decline in the region. In 1949, Washington statehood was granted to both Washington and Yakima counties; this change created a need for more public transportation in eastern Washington state. The construction of Interstate 5 made travel into eastern Washington easier, but also caused development along much of Wenatchee Falls Boulevard which had been used primarily for agriculture since before World War II. Today, much of the old business district aroundFort George Wright is still occupied by businesses that were founded during or after the Gold Rush era including some that continue operations today such as Western Hydroelectric Company which manufactured electric power products from 1902 until 1971
