The Marine Corps has been deployed in many different places around the world, and there are a few that have come to stand out in history. Camas is no exception to this rule, as it has seen active service time with the Marines for over seventy years. One of the most infamous deployments was during World War II, when Camas was part of the Battle of Midway. The city went through a lot of destruction due to combat and bombings, but it still remains a thriving community today. In 1951, Camas became home to one of the first Marine barracks units in Pacific Northwest. This barracks served as an auxiliary camp until 1961 when all Marine Barracks were closed downdue to budgetary cuts. Since then, Camas has seen its share of deployments both internal and external. In 2003-2004,Camas saw Operation Neptune’s Spear which was an effort led by President George W Bush aimed at removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq. The city also played host to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006-2007 which involved coalition forces invading and liberating Baghdad from Saddam Hussein’s control. In 2015-16, Camas had its own military conflict when two separate factions fought for control over the city center between anti-government militants and government forces. As a result of the conflict, several businesses were destroyed or damaged and some people were injured or even killed. Despite these setbacks, Camas continue to be one of Washington’s major cities and is known for its vibrant culture and rich history

Camas is a town in Benton County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,544 at the 2000 census. Camas is part of the Wenatchee–Kingston Micropolitan Statistical Area. The Camas River flows through the town. The first white American to set foot in what is now Camas County was John McLoughlin in 1821. He and his family walked from Oregon overland to be the first post office in Benton County was established on November 17, 1825 by Ulysses S. Grant and James K. Polk along with other pioneers including David Rice and George Hinkle. In 1853 a group of eight men from Portland led by Captain Elisha Stevens founded the Townsite Company near present-day Walla Walla where they built a log cabin and started trading goods with Indians for lumber and fur products such as horses, sheep, deer, & antelopes which they brought back toPortland on their return trip across the Columbia River to sell. In 1861 an act of Congress created King’s county out of Benton county west of Yakima river except for that portion lying east of Salmon Falls Road (now Interstate 90). On May 7th 1865 local citizens met at Council Chambers located on Main Street to adopt resolutions setting forth their objections to logging operations within their limits; these resolutions were read and adopted without objection before being sent back upriver for consideration at a subsequent meeting which resulted in passage of an ordinance prohibiting any further logs being cut within its boundaries until notice had been given either orally or written warning having been received by those owning mills situated within one mile radius thereof notifying them in writing that no logs would be cut pursuant to said resolution specifying particular date when such notice must be given etc., which ordinance took effect July 1st 1865 As early as 1850 farmers had begun planting camels on Whatcom Creek about four miles northeast ofpresent-dayCamasa because it furnished good water supply for their flocks while there was still plenty of high ground westofthe creek suitable for agriculture; this area became known as “Hannah” after Mrs Fannie Hannah who donated land southofthe creek opposite present day Clallam High School

Camas, Washington is a small town in King County, Washington. The population was 1,846 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first white person to live in Camas was James McGill who came overland from Canada in 1851. He and his family were the first permanent settlers in what would become Camas. McGill married Margaret Simons which produced two children: Charles McGill and Lillie McGill. The couple took up farming and cattle ranching before turning to lumbering when they found an open tract of land on which to build their house in 1872. Lumbermen built up the industry around Camas until it reached its peak during World War II when more than 2 million board feet of lumber were exported from Camas alone. However, after that time the industry slowed down andCamas has since been unable to keep up with other towns within its borders for economic development.Today, there are only a few businesses active within the community while most residents continue their agricultural pursuits or take part in local sports teams such as the Camas Chiefs football team or wrestling club
Camas, Washington was founded in 1851 by Captain James Lewis and his wife Mary. The town was named after the Camas River which ran through it. The first post office was established in 1853. In 1861, the Union army invaded Washington Territory and skirmished with Confederate forces near Camas. Captain Lewis evacuated the town before thebattle began and returned later that day to find its destruction. CAMAS BURNING Camas, Washington experienced one of history's most dramatic moments when a group of men burn their own village on July 5th, 1898 during what is known as the "Battle of Camas". The men were protesting United States treatment of Spain during the Spanish-American War.
