Coffee has been a part of the Bremerton community for many years. In 1876, a Dutchman named Johannes Cornelisz opened the first coffee shop in town. The store continued to serve coffee until it closed in 1952. In 1957, the Bremerton Coffee Company was founded by Dick and Jeanne Boesen. The company served coffee until 1978. In 1993, the Bremerton Coffee Company merged with Seattle-based Peet's Coffee Incorporated to become Peet's Coffee & Tea Corporation. The company ceased operations in 2001 when Peet's merged with Nabisco Foods, Inc.. TheBREMERTON COFFEE COMPANY still exists as an ounce weight and bag purchase only business providing this unique product experience to its customers today!
Bremerton is a city in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 20,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area and is situated on Puget Sound on the east side of the Tualatin Mountains. Bremerton has been an open-air port since 1881 and now manufactures a wide range of products including plastics, electronics, boat parts and other industrial supplies. The first permanent European settlers in what is now Kitsap County were French traders who named their landing point "Port du Prince" after their king. In 1792 British fur trader George Vancouver explored the coast from Bremerton to Point Defiance and named it "British Columbia". In 1821 there was another land grant made by British Columbia's then-Governor Sir John Colquitt to Joshua Stevens for his hot springs at Moses Lake; but this too passed away without Hardship or Benefit to anyone. In 1847 Captain George Vancouver again mapped Puget Sound when he sailed along its entire length as part of his circumnavigation of North America during the Northwest Passage Expedition; he named it Nisqually Sound after Chief Nisqually (of whom we know little) who lived near nearby Ewa Beach on Puget Island. On July 21, 1851 Lieutenant James Cook set out from Dutch Harbor on Tacoma Bay with HMS Resolution to explore northeast Asia during Cook's third voyage around America; they sighted Nisqually Sound on July 24 just south of Bothell Harbour before sailing into Japan waters two days later and reaching Suva Maru Anchorage off Hokkaido Island on August 2 - thus becoming one of the first Europeans known to have entered Japan through that route! Captain George Vancouver had only seen Port Du Prince from his ship's deck while anchored offshore - so when he heard about Port Royal (now Bremerton) being established as an open-air port here in 1881 it seemed like a perfect place for him! The opening up of coastal Washington due to gold mining led to overland travel bringing new people here such as Will Rogers who founded several businesses here including Wickersham Bros., Snively & Co., First National Bank (founded 1865), Pacific Telesis Company (founded 1912), American Telephone & Telegraph Company (founded 1901), Eastern Western Electric Railway (opened 1923), Pierce Brothers Breweryand many more! Today Bremerton remains one of America’s most vibrant ports with industries ranging from plastics production to Boat Parts manufacturing!

In 1853, John Crampton settled at Point Defiance Lighthouse where he continued to raise sheep until 1859 when he sold them to David Goulding who built a mill on Point Defiance Creek which still stands today. After years of growth and development led by lumberjacks, farmers, fishermen, miners and other businessmen over time, downtown Bremerton was completed in 1914 as a result of efforts by then-Mayor Luther Olson along with donations from various business people including Harry Wohlwerth (founder of Safeway) and Seldon McNerney (chairman emeritus of Northwest Airlines). During World War II muchofBremertonwasoccupiedbytheUSArmy because it lay within rangeofenemy artillery fire from strategic positions located around Tacoma. Since then much commercial activity has taken place downtown including restaurants such as Red Lobster, Applebee's and Jamba Juice; professional sports teams such as Seattle Mariners baseball and Seahawks football; retail stores like Sears/Kmart/JCPenney;anda numberof housing developments such as Eastside Place IMAX theater complex which opened in 2007 adjacent to CenturyLink Field just south of Interstate 5 exit 206A near Moses Lake Boulevard SW
The Bremerton School District was established in 1881. It served primarily students in the small town of Bremerton until it merged with the nearby Scappoose School District in 1954.
