The land here was first claimed by the Shoshone people, who were then moved by the Europeans to what is now Bothell. Bothell is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 16,599 at the 2010 census. Bothell is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Bothell were the Cascades Band of Lapps who settled there in 1854. A post office called Bothell was established in 1872 and remained in operation until 1959. The city's name comes from "Booth" (a name given to a small stream) and "hall" (an English word meaning 'house'). In 1903, Wm. Moulton Coryell built a large farm near what is now the eastern edge of town, which he named Coryell Heights after himself and his father-in-law, James Halsey Coryell. In 1922, Mr. Coryell donated land east of town for botanical gardens that still stand today known as the Western Washington University Botanic Garden. Today's downtown core was developed between 1929 and 1933 by Mayor Harry Benson with help from his wife Mabel Benson Benson Benson; it included several stores and restaurants before becoming an all-purpose center for commerce and entertainment during World War II when it became known asthe "Battle Ground." After the war ended, school enrollment dwindled along with job opportunities downtown so Mayor Benson began developing what are now Park Slope neighborhoods east of downtown into high-density housing on streets that would later be renamed avenues such as Mercer Drive and Dunleavy Boulevard. In 1957, Bothell annexed parts of the neighboring city of Everett while keeping its downtown core independent The population reached 21,811 by 2010

The company remains active to this day as a commercial enterprise with two factories in Bothell and two locations throughout King County. In 1907,Bothell voters approved incorporation as a town under the name "Bothell." The first Mayor of Bothell was Wm Hinshaw (1863-1937). At that time, it was one of only a few towns in Washington State without an elected official other than city officials. Incorporation marked the beginning of a period of growth for Bothey which continues to this day with over 20 years of continuous growth since its incorporation.
