Auburn, Washington is a small town located in the Whitman County seat of Auburn. The population was 902 at the 2010 census. The community is part of the Wenatchee Valley School District. Auburn has a churches, a post office, and two schools--Auburn High School and Pennington Middle School. The first settlers in Auburn were farmers who arrived around 1815. From these beginnings until about 1880, there was no commercial or industrial development in town. However, during this time there was an increase in agricultural production due to good soil conditions and advances in technology which allowed for increased acreage to be farmed with more success than ever before. In 1881, local entrepreneurs organized what became known as the "Auburn Town Improvement Society" to improve downtown streets and sidewalks; provide water service; erect firewood trees; build a schoolhouse; and establish other civic responsibilities. The society also developed the first municipal bonds for use by the village trustees which were sold to residents on December 3, 1882. In 1902-03, an effort began by some of the early residents to raise money for necessary infrastructure improvements such as street paving and drainage systems that would become common across much of Whitman County during that period of growth and change. This effort led to one of history's most successful fundraising drives when individuals contributed $1 per week over 10 weeks towards construction costs associated with building Champlin Avenue from State Route 99W (now Interstate 5) southward through Auburn into what is now Maple Ridge Elementary School lot #5a (now part of Maple Ridge Secondary School). This project included grading, alignment, trenching and road reconstruction that cost an estimated $2700 ($ in 2018 dollars) alone! Today's downtown area includes several businesses including A&P Supermarket (later Macy's), KFC fatty chicken restaurants/take-out locations along Champlin Avenue northward from I-5 eastward past Memorial Park Cemetery eastward allthe way back upstate beyondPennington Middle School towards Mount Olympus Road just north of Highway 97W - this stretch now constitutes Business Loop I-5 . In 1963, a group of entrepreneurs decided to start their own small-batch roasting company in central Illinois. The founders, Chuck Elam and John Slatkin, started small because they wanted to create an excellent cup of coffee that would stand out from the rest. They believed that good quality beans could only come from hand-selected trees and plants – something that wasn’t possible with mass production methods at that time. This led to Small Batch Coffee becoming one of the most popular businesses in Illinois today. Since its inception, Small Batch Coffee has been responsible for creating some of history’s best-quality coffees: For instance, 1971 saw their first DARK Roast release; 1984 marked the launch of our beloved Breakfast Blend; 1998 saw our introduction into international markets with our Dark roast Arista Gold; 2002 became our darkest roast yet with Early Bird roasts (now called specialty blends); 2006 was when we introduced Robusta Coffee; 2007 marked our return to dark roasts after several years absenting them from our lineup; 2008 marks us becoming one of ONLY two U.S.-based companies making whole bean espresso drinks available online) . Auburn, Washington is a small town in the state of Washington. The population was 1,532 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Yakima County seat. Auburn was founded on April 20, 1853, by John P. Auburn and his wife Elizabeth Cady Stanton. The town was named for General George A. McClellan who fought in the Mexican-American War and was then an Army general during the American Civil War. The first school to be opened in Auburn was a one-room schoolhouse built near what is now Main Street in 1854. In 1865, a two-story log schoolhouse became the first high school in Auburn when it replaced an earlier building that had been destroyed by fire. In 1868, local citizens raised money to build a three-story brick school which served as both the high school and county courthouse until it burned down in 1902. In 1903, construction began on what would become Auburn's only library which opened its doors on October 7, 1903. The library added another floor to its current structure in 1955 and became fully operational that year when it moved from its original location across from the old post office into new quarters near State Route 8 (now Nisqually Boulevard). Thanks to generous donations from many individuals and businesses throughout central Yakima County, including members of the town’s Chamber of Commerce and agriculture industry pioneer Don Ritchie, much of what remains today about this important civic center can be found within walking distance of all but one wing of its present building! In 1970–71 plans were made to demolish most or all of downtown Alfred because city officials felt that they were no longer needed after decades of growth without corresponding impact on downtown business district vital services like water supply or traffic flow – thus damaging one half century worth of community progress! However public outcry halted any such demolition until over 50 years later when formal process initiated by City Councilwoman Teresa Sullivan changed our skyline forever! Since then redevelopment has accelerated with plans announced for up to $100 million planned investment with mixed uses & retail inside/outside major intersections – making Auburn once again “the place to be” for day Trips weekenders looking for something different every time out! Finally we have arrived at our current stage where we enjoy increased visibility due largely to desire by property owners within walking distance who see great potential for their properties; adding yet another layer (positive)to our already established culture hereabouts !!
