The Auburn Coast Guard station has been in operation since 1914. The current station is located on the central waterfront of Auburn, just west of the city center. It was built as a Works Progress Administration project in 1933 and dedicated on December 4, 1934. Auxiliary personnel from nearby Tacoma initially manned the original Coast Guard station at this location before it was moved to its current site in 1935. The old building still stands today and is used as an office and storage facility for the coast guard. In 1941, a new lookout tower was added to the Station premises. This tower also housed a radio shack which remained in use until 1959 when it was replaced by a more modern structure. Since World War II, Auxiliary personnel have come and gone but the Station has always been open to the public despite occasional closures due to weather or other emergencies. In recent years, however, auxiliary service has been reduced partially or completely due to budget cuts while

Auburn, Washington is a small town in the Yakima Valley ofWashington. The population was 1,922 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Clark County, Washington metropolitan area. Auburn is located on the eastern edge of Yakima and its downtown contains a mix of commercial and residential areas including an old mill known for its preserved 1892 millrace. The town has several small businesses as well as some larger ones that produce goods such as education materials and agricultural products. Auburn also has a few restaurants and bars which serve locally-made food items as well as national chains like Starbucks and KFC. Auburn's economy depends largely upon agriculture; especially potatoes, apples, cotton, eggs, cheese and lumber. In recent years nearby irrigated farming has declined due to water availability concerns but there are still numerous acres of farmland in Auburn with high potential yields thanks to fertile soil and good irrigation systems. This year local farmers produced over one million pounds (454 metric tons) of potatoes alone!

The Coast Guard is a branch of the Department of Defense and is responsible for enforcing maritime law on the nation’s waters. The war provided opportunities for coast guard personnel to learn about seamanship andavalry tactics, which they would use during future peacetime operations. Since 9/11/2001, there have been several changes related to our nation’s homeland security that have called for increased efforts from our coast guard personnel. These include: quickly responding to safety concerns such as hurricanes Katrina and Rita; apprehending criminals who attemptto cross borders without proper documentation; providing support during natural disasters such as earthquakes;andresponding immediately when signs indicate someone may be trying to enter orexit our country through its borders with Mexico or Canada

Auburn, Washington was founded in 1853 by George W. Crampton and named for the Auburn University located in New York City. The first post office opened in Auburn on March 6, 1854. In 1861, when the US Civil War began, Auburn became a part of the Union Army and prospered as a military installation. After the war ended, Auburn reverted to its original name of George Washington Crampton School District #1. On January 1, 1921, it merged with neighboring King County to form the present-day Pierce County. The history of Auburn is full of significant moments that have shaped Northwest Washington culture and society. For example, starting in 1865 when General Sherman's army retreated from Atlanta after losing many men and supplies due to floods caused by typhoid fever pandemic (1865), Auburn was one of several major cities across the Southeast which saw an influx of new immigrants during Reconstruction following the Civil War era. This new wave of immigrants arrived primarily from Southern states such as Virginia or Georgia; however, some also came from Northern states such as Wisconsin or Minnesota. As a result of this influx and growth within their respective communities, numerous cultural changes occurred over time at both local level and statewide levels at Auburn University where students were taught Portuguese (the language spoken by many Brazilians living in Northeast Seattle) alongside American English during World War I while simultaneously working on their college degrees; among other examples Auburn has been home to various professional athletes throughout its history including football players like Heisman Trophy winner Jim Thorpe (1902-1945), basketball players Rick Majerus (1975-1982) and Julius Erving (1973-1987), baseball player Reggie Jackson (1989-present) as well as Olympian sailor Neil Armstrong who attended school there from 1966 until his graduation in 1969 before attending Stanford University
In 1847, the legislature of Washington passed a bill authorizing the erection of a university in Auburn, Washington. The first steps were taken to build the school in 1848 and it opened its doors to students on October 1, 1849. The university was renamed as the University of Puget Sound in 1907 and it became an accredited college/university in 1949.
