Arlington, Washington is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 11,844 at the 2010 census. Arlington is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area and is the county seat of King County. It was founded in 1853 as a small community on the site of present-day Arlington Cemetery by General John A. Logan and other military officers who were discharged from service in the Mexican–American War. The first store in Arlington opened its doors on July 4, 1853. In 1856, Arlington became an incorporated town with a population of only eighty people. The first school was built to serve this small town and taught grades one through four. By 1860, there were six stores and twenty-four homes in Arlington. In 1865, when Tacoma became the territorial capital of Northwest Washington Territory, Arlington became its second city; it had a population of 25 people and three businesses! The early days of this growing city were difficult but full of promise for future growth: during that year's general election campaign (which involved running for office not just as an individual but as an avatar for each municipality within Northwest Washington), nine different menaced voters made trips to vote at various polling places throughout Tacoma – including two to pick up ballots from local printers – only to find out they couldn't because they lived too far away! In 1898 when Seattle annexed Bellevue (the original home turf of Everett) renaming it Bellevue Park after Revd Dr Samuel Seaton who served as pastor until his death in 1888 along with his wife EmmaLee he donated land for what would become today’s Arbor View Shopping Center! mail services began arriving here from Olympia on May 15th 1900 via steamboats!!! This shows how important arms and armour were within Antiochus’ society at this point in time. In 1865, Confederate forces burned down part of Arlington House during a bloody battle between Union forces and Confederate troops that lasted several hours. The fire destroyed much of downtown Arlington but left behind some beautiful architecture including the Federal Building and Senate Chamber which are still standing today.
