Arlington, Washington is home to the United States Air Force's 1st Infantry Division. The division was activated on September 16th, 1947 and has served in various theaters of war since then. The 1st Infantry Division was the first unit to be stationed in Arlington County after the War Between the States. In 1952, the divisions headquarters were moved from Fort Myer to Arlington Village and later to Fort Myer Annex. The 1st Infantry Division has also fought in Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. In honor of its service members who have fought and died in America's wars, Arlington County erected a monument to those who have lost their lives within its borders. This Memorial Park includes a large outdoor amphitheater that can seating up to 25,000 people for military funerals or other ceremonies honoring fallen troops. Additionally, there are several smaller memorials located throughout Arlington Village as well as at nearby Camp David which serves as the Army's main training ground for new officers. These monuments are all dedicated by Commanders of theDivision or higher-ranking enlisted personnel who paid tribute to their comrades during wartime operations or memorial services.

Arlington is a small city in Washington State, United States. The population was 722 at the 2000 census. Arlington is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. It is bordered by Bellevue to the east, Everett to the west, Issaquah to the north and south, and Redmond to the southeast. The city proper includes only a small core surrounded by neighborhoods that extend into Thurston County on three sides and King county on one side. The first inhabitants of what is now Arlington were Native American tribe members known as Tsimshian who lived there for centuries before European exploration began. In 1847, General James K. Polk founded Fort Vancouver (now Seattle) as an outpost on Puget Sound in order to provide military support for US President James K. Polk's efforts during the Mexican-American War; however, Pittsburgh became provisional capital of Washington due to its larger population at that time and Fort Vancouver was abandoned in 1849 without ever having been used for military purposes. At its peak in 1870, Arlington had a population of over 507 people but declined rapidly after this initial growth period because of many factors including more advanced transportation methods and increased growth within Seattle itself which outstripped Arlington's ability to keep up with it: by 1900 only 283 people lived there while Seattle had a population of 624 thousand people! In 1962 Arlington voters passed a resolution recognizing their desire for annexation bySeattle; however this vote did not carry through because no ordinance has been passed annexing other cities within Washington state since then! As recently as 1990s most residents here still thought annexation would happen eventually though some believed it might never happen given how historically strong Seattle was! Today much work needs to be done in order for any form of annexation or merger between these two municipalities become reality as they both have very different cultures and economies which make cooperation difficult or even impossible! One potential solution could be creating an urban renewal district encompassing all or parts of both municipalities in order to encourage development together; however such type of initiative faces several challenges such as difficulty gaining enough voter approval from either municipality despite being proposed broadly (rather than specifically targeting them), opposition from elected officials on both sides who seesimilar projects happening elsewhere within their jurisdictions, and skepticism from some who believe thaturban redevelopment districts will simply lead to MORE suburbanization rather than integration across jurisdictional lines!

Arlington is a suburb of Washington, D.C., located in the northeastern quadrant of the city. The population was 45,812 at the 2010 census. It is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in America, with more than 50% of its residents being from some form of African American or Hispanic descent. Arlington also has sizable populations from other cultures such as Japanese and Mexican. The city was founded by General George Washington on May 14, 1790 as Yorktown Heights after he won a victory over French forces at Yorktown Plantation near today's Arlington National Cemetery. The first European settlers to arrive in what is now Arlington were people from Nova Scotia who arrived in 1699 and named their land "Yorktown." They built a small cabin on what is now Mount Vernon Road and started farming around 1710. In 1714, when George Washington was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army and moved to Virginia to lead it against King George III's British forces, he chose Arlington as his new headquarters because it was then part of Prince Georges County (now Fairfax County). When Washingtons army evacuated Alexandria during the American Revolution, he decided to stay behind and establish his new headquarters here at Yorktown Heights. As commander-in-chief, Washington supervised construction of many important engineering feats including Fort McHenry which played an important role in ending Britain's war with France. Grant ordered Admiral John Farragut to build Fort Sumter on James River overlooking present day Arlington Heights just upstream from present day Embassy Row]]. The first permanent settler in Arlington was James Herndon, who landed on the site in 1792. The town started as a small community of log cabins and farmhouses, but by 1834 it had grown to include modest brick buildings. The town became politically active during the early years of the Republic, with members of the House of Representatives and Senate residing in Arlington. In 1865, Arlington received its own post office, which remained in operation until 1959. During World War II, Arlington played an important role as a munitions plant and military base. After the war ended, the town began to decline and suffered from economic stagnation. In the late 1990s, however, redevelopment efforts revived Arlington and it has since become one of Washington's most significant boomtowns.
