The Anacortes Air Force deployed the gift of air force aviation to its residents in 1916. The first plane equipped with an airplane engine was delivered by the United States Army's Aviation Section to General James A. Harmon, Commander in Chief, American Expeditionary Forces on Christmas Day of that year. Since then, the Air Force has provided many services and amenities for its citizens. In 1946, it was redesignated as the United States Air Force and placed under the command of Headquarters USAF at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. On 1 October 1947, AF became operational as a separate service within the U.S. Department of Defense after being numbered 10thAir Force at Randolph AFB near San Antonio TX since 17 Sep 1946 when AF activated there from Army Ground Forces Reserve Command's Langley Field Airport). As part of USAF’s organizational realignment and unification plans announced on 14 Jun 1993 (AF reorganization plan 93-1), installations covering all USAAF commands were consolidated into one command structure - Headquarters USAF - effective 15 Jul 1993 (the last day on which AF was operated as 10thAir Force). This change reflected current trends toward global aerial warfare and interservice cooperation manifested through Joint Terminal Attack Service (JTAS), multinational operations such as Allied Support Command Europe (ASCOPE) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization Operation Noble Eagle [NATO Allies aircraft began flying over NATO territory during this operation]. On 31 Dec 2005, HQ USAF activated Royal Australian Airforce's No. 131 Squadron RAF at RAAF Base Pearce in Western Australia as part of AFP' s joint rotational program with HQ USAFE . The squadron is currently commanded by Major General Angus Campbell who also leads both Services' strategic air forces components; No 133 Wing RAF at RAAF Base Amberley NSW ; No 5 Squadron RNZAF at Christchurch NZ ; No 151 Squadron IAF at Srinagar Jammu & Kashmir ); while AHQ India continues to operate ANZAC Flight Training School Bagdogra ). On 15 Jul 1993 Headquarters USAF consolidated all USAAF commands into one organization - Headquarters USAF In 1946 HQ USAF redesignated United States Airforce In 1989 HQ USAFE activatedRoyal Australian Airforce's No. 131 Squadron RAF No 133 Wing RAF headquartered at RAAF Base Amberley NSW No 5 Squadron RNZAF based at Christchurch NZ No 151 Squadron IAF located at Srinagar Jammu & Kashmir

Anacortes, Washington is a city in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Anacortes is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. It has been home to the University of Washington since 1892 and now houses more than 20 universities and colleges. The first white settlers in what is now Kitsap County were Scotsmen who arrived in 1792 during the Fraser's voyage from Scotland to Puget Sound. They named their new land "Anacortes" after Lord Ancora, a British nobleman who had provided financial support for their prosecute efforts in North America. In 1851, the first school was established in what is today downtown Anacortes by Reverend John Cramer and his students from Christian Missionary Society (CMS). The first post office was opened on October 12, 1852 with Wm Fenton as the first mail carrier. In 1870 when Puget Sound included all of present-day Kitsap County there were only 14 inhabitants living on an unincorporated island located southeast of present-day Anacortes called killer whales island because of its high concentration of killer whales which used to Feed off the coast on that location until they were hunted to extinction by commercial fishermen about 1905. In 1916 Pacific Electric Railway built a line between Puyallup and Olympia bringing commerce ashore so that residents could start buying goods they wouldn't otherwise be able to get hold of without traveling far out into Salish Sea or else going through Mexico City or other international ports where prices would be inflated. This started what is known as "the town boom" as people started moving into town from various rural areas around Puget Sound region seeking opportunities for economic growth like job security and access to good schools and transportation then available within commuting distance either east or west of Tacoma etc... The United States Air Force has a rich history of deploying gift baskets to the people and organizations it serves. From the early days of air power whenAAF flew bombers for the war effort, through the Cold War years when USAF toys and decorations adorned many an American home, to recent deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq, USAF gift history is both abundant and diverse. Air Force Gift History: 1946-present It was on July 12th, 1946 that President Harry S. Truman signed into law The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This act authorized The US Air Force to create two wings -the Strategic Air Command (SAC) and Tactical Air Command (TAC). The SAC would be responsible for flying strategic attacks against ground targets while TAC would be responsible for Fighter/Attack aircraft used in ground support roles. Within a year, SAC had deployed its first Gift basket! A barbeque grill with everything from skewers to fried onions was sent to General Hoyt Vandenberg, commander of SAC. The next year saw another gift basket as part of a promotion campaign for new members of the USAF. A large inflatable rubber duck called “Ducky” was sent as a token of appreciation. In 1948, Congress passed an act authorizing The USAF to provide airborne gifts such as flowers or fruit trees in lieu of money; this became known as Operation “Silver Bells”. By 1951,Operation “Silver Bells” had become so popular that it was decided that all future deployments must include at least one gift basket! In 1957, Congress passed an act authorizing The USAF to deploy gifts inside Continental United States; this became known as Operation “Gold Star”. This gave new meaning to the term “gift basket deployment” because now not only could anyone within range receive a gift but also their friends and family back at home! In 1969 Congress passed another act authorising The USAF again Deploy Gifts inside Continental United States; this became known as Operation “Blue Star” By 1970 there were three major types of bomber delivery systems -airborneCommand Post Delivery System (ACPDS), airbornePersonal Computer Delivery System (PPDS),and airman Aerial Courier Service(AACC). Each type delivered one or more items using different methods including parachutes or Special Purpose Vehicles equipped with lift equipment which moved items over long distances by stable airfields on military installations outside Continental United States

Anacortes is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,724 at the 2010 census. Anacortes is located on Highway 520 and had a total area of 73.8 square miles (190 km2). The first European to visit what is now Anacortes was Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo in 1542 when he landed there on his way from Mexico City to find new land for Spain. José de Onís y Urquiza also visited the area in 1692 while still governor of California. Spanish missionaries established missions here in 1793–97 and built churches, schools and other infrastructure. After the Mexican-American War ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, America's first national boundary was drawn between Mexico and Oregon Territory - including Anacortes - being east of the San Pedro River. In 1856, Congress passed an Act entitled "An Act to Establish a Town in King County", which created Anacortes as an incorporated town under the jurisdiction of King County on October 1, 1856. The original plat included three blocks north of present day State Route 520; these blocks became part of downtown Anacortes when it was annexed by the city in 1907. In 1909, voters approved annexation into Seattle by a vote of 54% to 46%. On January 8th, 1912 Anacortes became one of only two townships within King County that did not ratify the Federal Constitution as required by law before becoming an incorporated municipality; this distinction applied only to townships that were organized after November 3rd 1917 when incorporation laws were changed from county-level to municipal level pursuant to state statute No . 746 (1917). This event marked an important change for both municipalities because it eliminated any vestige of local self-government within either township while ensuring equal representation among all municipalities withinKingCoounty at sovereignty level; this status has been retained throughout Municipal Law § § 12 through 21 since then without interruption Mayor Clyde Bogan served as Mayor pro tempore until December 5th 2021 due to term limits set forth in King County Code § § 11-105(a)(1) which barred future mayors from serving more than two consecutive terms consecutively without being reelected during their second term or running for office again no later than six months after leaving office due to termlimits; this provision has been repealed as part of amendment #2 enacted via Ordinance No . 2145 – 2017
