Manassas was once a small town in central Virginia. It is now a ghost town, and its only remaining structure is a little courthouse. The Manassas Creek flows through the town, and it is said that the creek has cursed the townspeople ever since. The story of Manassas begins with three men who built a cabin on the banks of the creek in 1837. They named their Cabin "Manasseh." Over time, other people moved into and around the cabin, and it became pretty full. One day, one of these people died; his body was never found. Some say that he committed suicide because of his unhappy life at the cabin; others say that he died from something else entirely. Eventually, some new settlers moved into Manassas - about 50 men in all - and they started to build more houses on top of the old cabins. But things didn't go well for them either. The Creek continued to curse the townspeople, and soon enough, most of them had gone away or died from accidents or illnesses caused by the Creek. In 1949, someone found an old journal from one of these early settlers which contained incredibly detailed accounts of what happened at Manasses during this period (before any records were kept). In it, you can read about how some men went so mad with drink that they killed themselves while trying to take down another man's cabin; how people would stake out their homes at night in case someone came looking for them; how members of Parliament would sometimes visit towns along this stretch of creek just to watch people drown or commit suicides - even going so far as to offer money for information leading to convictions! Despite all these dangers – including claims that members of Congress may have been involved in some sort of cover-up – no one ever caught anyone responsible for creating or driving the Creek out of Manasses completely. And today, despite all evidence against it*, there are still stories told about how bad things could have been if only those early settlers had stuck around...

Manassas was the site of a large battle between Union and Confederate forces on April 12, 1861. The Union army under General Robert E. Lee had been pursuing General Ulysses S. Grant's Confederate army for months, while also defending their own lines at Manassas Junction. On April 12th, the two armies reached a point near Parkersburg, Virginia. There, the Confederates made an attempt to cross a small stream over which they thought they could retreat unseen by their enemies. However, when Union cavalry rode across the stream and began crowding around them, the Confederates were forced to fight in open ground. In spite of heavy casualties on both sides (Approximately 125 Confederate soldiers died), the Union victory allowed Lincoln to declare war on Confederate States of America just four days later. The Battle of Manassas is significant because it marked one of three major engagements where Union soldiers fought against Confederate troops led by General Robert E. Lee – who would go on to become one of America's most famous generals during World War II and serve as President twice (1865-1929). Additionally, Manassas is also significant because it is one of only a few battles in which military hardware was used in an effort to suppress civil unrest during the American Civil War; such equipment as cannons and rifles were instead used in battlefield assaults or as supplies for advancing units.
