Highland, Utah is a small town in the Wasatch Mountains of southern Utah. It is located about an hour's drive north of Salt Lake City and about two hours south of Ogden. The population was 1,826 at the 2010 census. Highland is also known as "The Promised Land". In 1847, Brigham Young founded the town on land that had been donated to him by Samuel Steedman. In 1868, Mormon pioneers John D. Lee and Orson Pratt arrived in Highland and started a grocery store. They were followed soon after by my father-in-law Lorenzo Snow and his family who opened a hotel in 1870. A post office was established in 1872, and the name changed to Highland in 1880 because of its location near Promised Land which Joseph Smith described as "the land whereon God will establish His kingdom." In 1907, when nearby Cache Valley became part of Weber County, Highland lost its status as a separate municipality but continued to be called Highlands for marketing purposes only. In 1933 it united with Cache Valley to form Cache County. The community experienced significant growth during World War II when many local businesses turned their attention to supplying the war effort with food products and other goods necessary for troops stationed abroad. After the war ended all local businesses closed down except for one hardware store which reopened in 1946 as The Mercantile Store before going out of business again in 1990; however, it reopened under new ownership following countywide merger efforts six years later (it continues to operate today). Since 1999 high school students from across Cache Valley have Attendance Area boundaries Converging High School program providing opportunities for students from different parts of valley attend same school while living & working within close proximity

Highland, Utah is a census-designated place located in Tooele County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. Highland is named for the high mountains to the east and west of it. The town was founded in 1887 by Scottish pioneers as a cattle ranching community on land that had been taken from the Navajo people by General George Armstrong Custer during his Apache Wars campaign. It became an agricultural center after railroads arrived in the area in the early 1900s. The town's economy changed dramatically when oil and gas discoveries began to be made in nearby Salt Lake City and Provo, respectively. In 1990 Highland lost its status as an incorporated municipality to neighboring Springdale because of disagreements over annexation into Springdale's city limits.

Highland, Utah was founded in 1847 by James W. Hill and his wife Anna S. Hill. The first post office was established at Highland on December 3, 1847. In 1850, the town of Highland became a city and the name was changed to Salt Lake City on January 6, 1858. On October 15, 1862, the city was renamed Provo after Brigham Young's headquarters during the Mormon War. The population of Salt Lake City reached 2 million by 1930; however, due to economic factors and suburban development within Salt Lake City's boundaries, most of the growth in population took place outside of its borders.
