Red Oak, Texas is a town in Cooke County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,715 at the 2010 census. It lies along the Red River near its confluence with the Trinity River. The town was founded in 1853 by Captain James Waggoner and his family as a trading post on the Red River. In 1867 it was renamed for General Edmund Taylor of the Confederate army who had fought in the Battle of Elkhorn Creek. The name change reflected its proximity to Austin, Texas and because of its small size it never became very important as a commercial center. In 1916, Red Oak formed an annex to Galveston which made it one of two municipalities in Cooke County that did not secede from Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. The other municipality was Brownsville. The first Marine Corps unit stationed in Red Oak was Company F (4th Marines), 3rd Battalion (1st Marine Regiment) which arrived on December 15, 1915. Company F left for Cuba on January 12, 1917 after successfully repelling an attack by Spanish forces at Santa Anna Dam Bridgehead and remained there until March 9 when they sailed back to Corpus Christi Bayou where they disembarked and began their march up San Antonio River towards Ibañez Barracks located north of what would become downtown Red Oak proper on May 7th 1917 after crossing into US soil via Nueces River Bridge- now under Interstate 10). For 2 weeks they camped out waiting for orders before finally embarking February 14th 1919 bound for Guam via Pearl Harbor where they arrived April 8th 1919 and commenced duty with Marine Detachment 3 attached to Fifth Marines arriving at Ibañez Barracks only 4 days later on April 11th 1919 performing occupation duty until November 1918 when all American Forces pulledout from Japan ending World War II A total of 509 marines were deployed to Japan during World War II including 452 who served with 5cpn(4mdr) First Marine Division; these men are honored with plaque at Ibañez Barracks today On October 30 1951 local citizens raised money through a drive called "A Better Future" to purchase land adjacent to Galveston Ship Channel between Houston Ship Channel Boulevard and Veterans Memorial Highway so that within 6 months construction could begin on what would eventually become UTEP's biggest university campus: Petroglyph University In early 1957 UTEP purchased additional land east of US 175 just south of FM 1960 which would be used primarily for dormitory buildings although some faculty/staff housing also existed here; this area is now known as "UTEP Campus East". On May 22nd 1957 UTEP's first student body graduated valedictorian class wearing gowns/caps emblazoned with "UTEP" across both front pages of The Daily Texan newspaper! This event signaled a turning point for UTEP as it became one institution among manyherry experiencing rapid growth throughout South Texas over the next few decades culminating in enrollment over 20,000 students today! Red Oak is a small town located in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. The population was 4,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Monterrey metropolitan area. Red Oak is bordered by Laredo to the south, Reynosa to the east, and Nuevo Laredo to the north-west. The first white person to settle in what is now Red Oak was John White in 1836. He built a cabin on a hill near present day Lamar Boulevard and Prairie Drive. By 1840, some settlers had established themselves in what is now Red Oak, including Samuel Barnes and his family who settled around towardspresent day Lamar Boulevard and US 71 exit 9B (now Burnet Road). Other early pioneers were James Armstrong and his brothers Isaac & Ebenezer Armstrong who founded Armstrong's Store on current day Beasley Drive. In 1849, General Sam Houston purchased 640 acres of land west of present day Lamar Boulevard for $2 per acre from David Dixon. This land became known as "Houston County." From this time onward much of RedOak history has been connected with that of Houston County or its surrounding areas due to its strategic location within those boundaries - one example being Rice University's founding which took place just west of Houston County limits in1872 when George Wickersham donated 5 acres (20,000 m²) at Rice Lake forthat purpose. In 1881 Texas A&M University was founded at Red Oak by then Congressman George Eastman with money from an issue raised by him during his gubernatorial campaign against incumbent Phillip Hancock. The original campus consisted only of two buildings:the Agricultural Building which housed classrooms and laboratories;andthe Engineering Building which housed classrooms and laboratories as well as a large engine room used for agricultural research purposes until it was destroyed by fire in 1949; both buildings still stand today! During World War II many scientists worked at Texas A&M University while others studied Preparation for War 1941-1945 located adjacent to Main Campus on Morrill Ave., across from Memorial Stadium Today’s Main Campus began operations on November 12th 1950 after more than twenty years of hard work by A&M professors, staff and students! On September 15th 1957 Bob Jones won Ole Miss football’s first bowl game ever against Vanderbilt 38-6 at Tiger Stadium thanks largely to Jethro Gibbs running back performance that afternoon! That same year also saw Texas A&M become one half owner – along with Baylor University –of Louisiana State Tigers football program following their merger with Southern Methodist University

Red Oak is a small town located in the Hill Country of Texas. The community was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1836. In 1851, Red Oak became the first organized county seat of Hidalgo County. Red Oak's economy has been based on agriculture and ranching for most of its history. The town has a small population today, but it remains an important cultural and commercial center for the surrounding area. The original settlers were farmers who worked their land around what is now Red Oak. By 1830, there were over 200 people living in Red Oak; however, only 10% of them were Irish Catholics. Most residents came from County Clare inIreland. In 1836, the Camp Coffee Company was founded in Red Oak by James Witherspoon and his brother Archibald Campbell (a native of Antrim). The coffee company grew rapidly and soon had a Plantation House at 101 Seches Road built to house its employees and their families. In 1840, Witherspoon sold the coffee company to John Fenton (a native of Galway). A few years later, Fenton partnered with George Brownrigg (the son of Captain Isaac Brownrigg) to form the Brownriggs Coffee Company which continued to grow until it merged with J C Penney's grocery store chain in 1916. In 1850, when Hidalgo County was created from part of Medina County, RedOak became one of its first townships. A year later, it became an unincorporated community under control of Hidalgo County sheriff Nicholas Brady Sr.. civic activity increased after local photographer David Levy opened his camera shop at Fourth Street and Elm Avenue in 1855-56; this triggered local development that included new homes being erected on old agricultural fields westward from Fourth Street between Elm Avenue and FM 19606 North about halfway between present day First National Bank Building on northwest corner Third Street (now east side Second National Bank building) and south side Third Street where Union Pacific Railroad depot now stands - still operating as business headquarters annexe - including some fine examplesHiggins Monumental House built by banker Ira Higgins .
