The Coast Guard was founded in 1915 as the United States Coast Guardsman Reserve. In 1916, the Coast Guard became an active branch of the military and was designated as the United States Navy’s Department of Military Affairs. In 1921, the Coast Guard moved to its present location in Red Oak and changed its name to The United States Coast Guard. As of 2019, The United States Coast Guard has a complement of over 16,000 men and women who work together to help protect our nation's coasts and waters. One of The United States Coastguard's primary missions is providing search and rescue services for those who may be lost at sea or when near shore. Additionally, The United States Coastguard plays an important role in law enforcement by enforcing maritime regulations that protect life and property on our nation's oceans and coasts. In addition to its search-and-rescue mission, The United States Coast guard also provides access to coastal communities with their marine resources including vessels, manpower, equipment and supplies. The Red Oak Coast Guard Station was first established in 1911 as the Baytown Coast Guard Station. In 1924, it became the Corpus Christi Coast Guard Station. In 1946, it became the Red Oak Coast Guard Station. The station was renamed in 1987 to its current name of the Red Oak Coast guard station.
Red Oak is a small town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth-Arlington-Bedford City Combined Statistical Area. Red Oak was founded in 1845 by James W. Beamish and his family as a farmstead on the banks of the Trinity River. The name "Red Oak" comes from the oaks that grow thereabouts. The first post office in Red Oak was established in 1846; it closed in 1903. In 1870, J.B Beamish donated to the town twenty acres (80 hectares) of land north of downtown for use as a public square and schoolhouse complex; this donation remains an active part of Red Oak's history and economy today. The original frame structure for the now extant White House Building served as both city hall and red light district during prohibition days until 1938 when it became Austin's first municipal building In 1941, American Airlines opened its main airport here with three runways: 4/22, 6/24 and 10/28; American Airlines would later rename itself Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport which still operates out of RedOak today. Red Oak is a small town located in Hood County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land, TX metropolitan area. Red Oak was platted in 1851 by John Witherspoon and James White. The name was likely chosen to commemorate the red oak tree which stood near the town square. In 1871, J.B. Myers founded Red Oak Forge and Manufacturing Company to provide goods for local farmers and ranchers. The company prospered until 1916 when it went bankrupt due to World War I losses. In 1927, Red Oak consolidated with other towns in Hood County formed the hood county municipality which remains today an important civic center for all of Hood County In 1957, Red Oak became a city after being approved by voters via a referendum After years of growth and progress through planning and activism from many individuals and groups who fought for its designation as a city, Redoak received its charter on November 5th, 1992 On December 1st of that year residents joined together to celebrate their success as citizens who had fought so hard for this momentous achievement Today’s RedOak celebrates more than just its history; it also represents everything that makes our community special – innovation, creativity, service provision – these are hallmarks of what makes us one of America’s most vibrant cities
Red Oak was founded in 1836 by James Fenton. The town became a post office in 1841, and the first store was built in 1847. In 1860, Red Oak was incorporation as a city. The city saw its peak during the early 1900s with population growth rates of over 50%. However, the population dwindled during the Great Depression and World War II. After years of decline, the city’s population peaked at around 100 people in the late 1990s before slowly declining again. In 2018, Red Oak had a total population of just under 70 people.
