This unit consisted of 11 cadets from Henderson High School who had volunteered their services during World War I. AfterWAR I ended on November 11th, 1918; these cadets had to return home before they could rejoin their battalion for Christmas break. On December 20th 1922 company C disbanded due to lack of instructors available for replacements after two years service with no success finding successors In 1928 Captain G H Sutherland commandeered an old barracks at 222 S Main Street in order to startling new recruits into our program With over 330 officers and men under his command Captain Sutherland organized what is now known as "Henderson Troop A" (later called "Company B") made up mostly of high school graduates Captain Sutherland also recruited many women into our program under Mrs Lillian Flattery Afterworld II started around 1939 most companies were increased to 16 or 18 members each but captain Fenton led Company C until 1945 when he became commanding general 3rd Infantry Brigade headquartered at Ft Worth( later HQ 5th Infantry Division) so OGTF changed name back to 4th Infantry Regiment then 5th Infantry Division just before VE day so all titles got messed up again

Colonel James B. Henderson was appointed commander of the district and began construction on what is now known as Fort Worth Army Air Field. The mission of Fort Worth Army Air Field was to provide training for American soldiers and sailors in aviation. It was also used as a staging area during World War I and World War II. In 1944, Fort Worth Army Air Field was decommissioned and its assets were transferred to San Antonio Army Base. San AntonioArmy Base became home to the 8th Infantry Division which had completed its original training at Fort Worth Army Air Field. The division then moved to Europe where it fought in both World Wars. After World War II, 8th Infantry Division returned home and resumed operations at San AntonioArmy Base before being disbanded in 1951. In 1961, the United States Congress designated Fort Worth Army Airfield as the new home for US Marines Corps Reconnaissance Squadron One (MARS 1). MARS 1 would become one of America’s first combat units equipped with helicopters when it arrived at FtWorth Army Airfield in 1962. Today, MARS 1 continues to serve our country by providing reconnaissance support to military forces around the world
