A history of the air force in Ennis, Texas began with the creation of the Air Force Base in this town on December 15, 1941. The base was named after Lieutenant Colonel James Fenton, who served as Commander of Fighter Squadron One at RAF Magdalen. The first units to arrive at AFB were the A-24C Liberator and P-38 Lightning aircraft. In 1942, bomber Squadron Two was activated and began bombing targets in Japan. In 1945, AFB became a Headquarters for Tactical Air Command (TAC) and it moved from Magdalen to Ennis. The TAC headquarters resided at FM 2190 North which is now used as the Administration Building for AFB. On September 8th, 1948 TXAF Base Unit No.–1 Detachment 1 activated at AFB with primary mission being bombardment of Japanese target cities using B-29s and P-51s under Lt Col Clarence Evers’ command. This detachment primarily flew Boeing 707 bombers but also operated Douglas DC-3 transport planes during some missions over Japan. On January 10th 1949 TXAF Base Unit No.–2 Detachment 2 activation was announced which would become one of USAF’s most important detachments having responsibility for both air defense activities within County limits as well as providing fighter support to other aerial operations throughout the nation when called upon. The late 1940s saw USAF growth as an organization due to advances technology that had been developed since World War II including jet aircraft such as the jet bomber and jet fighters; however there were many challenges that must be overcome before these advancements could be realized by civilians or military members alike such as shortage of fuel resources and infrastructure necessary for ground based aviation spread all over America unlike Europe where airports were much more centralized with ample fuel reserves available to meet combat needs overseas; furthermore American pilots had not yet mastered flying in international airspace where other nations had established their own airspace regulations similar to those found in Europe where military flights could only fly within specific airspace defined by their nation’s Defense Minister without any type of coordination or agreement between militaries involved; finally until jet aircraft became common place warfare experienced pilots still needed time To get comfortable flying these new types of airplane which often took years before they reached squadron status or even flight testing while battlefield experience varied greatly from one cockpit situation to another making it difficult if not impossible for average person on Earth To accurately predict what would happen when they took off into international airspace For example Takeoff from Omelek Airport outside Of Tokyo went smoothly until you crossed International Waters just north thereof You quickly realized your altitude decreased rapidly because you no longer knew your latitude! By 1950 TAC Headquarters had grown so large that a separate wing was created known simply as Headquarters Wing (HW). As HQ Wing grew so did its responsibilities taking on additional roles such as responsible for operational planning/management functions within HQTAC along with providing lead coverage for all tactical commands across America; additionally HW also assumed control over all AF activity within County limits becoming one essential part of localAirForce lifeblood aspect which continues today albeit through various name changes

Johnston's donation of 1 million acres (500 km²) of land east of Dallas for that university's founding. The town became an important cultural and commercial center for much of rural Midland County until World War II when it fell victim to assorted development schemes spearheaded by powerful oil interests within regional society. In recent years, efforts have been made to revive the local economy through such activities as tourism, agricultural production, fabrication and trade businesses and retail enterprises including several grocery stores and a number of small malls throughout the community. The townards are currently working together to create an Economic Development Authority which will provide marketing/finance/development assistance to new businesses and promote economic growth in the area
Ennis was founded in 1879 by John A. Ennis and his family. It became a city in 1902 and then, in 1907, it became a county seat. The population of the City of Ennis peaked at over 100,000 people in 1920, but has since declined to approximately 50,000 residents.
