Duncanville was founded in 1881 by Scots-Irish immigrants and has been home to a variety of industries including cotton ginning and cattleraising ever since. The town's namesake, Duncan Macdonald (1825-1911), was an early settler and delegate to the Texas Constitutional Convention of 1876. Duncanville has two post office buildings – one dating from 1901 and the other from 1907 – as well as a number of small businesses including a bakery, gas station, hardware store, and restaurant. The first known inhabitants of what would become Duncanville were Scots-Irish settlers who had come totxas in search of new land in 1881. They built their first cabin near what is now Clear Fork Creek on land that they purchases from John Whitehead for $600 bucks. Over time more Scots-Irish immigrants arrived, some settling permanently while others moved away for various reasons such as family difficulties or political instability back home in Scotland. By 1888 there were over 50 people living in the community which grew rapidly thanks to advances in transportation methods and cheap labor available on American farms during the late 19th century. In 1903 local physician Dr Samuel Waring established himself in business here before moving his practice to Amarillo later that year In 1907 the first post office opened in what would become known as "The Town". In 1916 work began on building what became known as "The State Capitol" which was completed ten years later serves today as both the seat of government for Cameron County and also host many cultural events throughout the year including Oktoberfest celebrations etc.. The State Capitol also served briefly as housing for county employees prior to its relocation to its current location across Clear Fork Creek from downtown Duncanville earlier this decade Many changes have taken place within DuncanvilT over time with most notably due to World War II when almost all manufacturing left town virtually overnight due largely to shortages caused by wartime production goals set by President Franklin D Roosevelt along with other initiatives called "New Deal" .
