The only remaining structure from that era is a cotton gin which still stands today within sight of Donna's courthouse complex. Today, much of what once made up Donna has been replaced by modern development including high rises and apartments overlooking the riverfront casino complex across the street from town hall. However, downtown remains unchanged with its original storefronts, warehouses and other historic buildings that have been preserved as part of what are now known as "Old Main" district attractions within walking distance of most residents' homes or businesses- making this one of Corpus Christi's oldest districts still intact! Donna, Texas is a town located in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. Its population was 6,933 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The original name of Donna was Dutchtown. Donna was founded as a station on the Chisholm Trail by James Robertson and his family in 1847. In 1852, it became known as Fort Worth for its role in the Mexican-American War. The post office which first opened in Fort Worth was renamed Donna after Donna Beach on the Gulf of Mexico. When Fort Worth fell to Mexican forces during the Battle of Palo Alto in 1857, Dona Beach became known as Corpus Christi because all supplies continuing to Fort Worth were sent through that port before they reached their destination at Corpus Christi. In 1861, during Confederate General Robert Ewell's raid on Houston, he destroyed many businesses and homes near Donna with an ironclad ship called " CSS Virginia". This event led to much discussion about secession from America and caused many Texans to flee their homes for fear of being pillaged or captured by Confederate forces. A few weeks later another raid occurred by Confederate General Beauregard which destroyed most of Houston but did not damage any buildings near Dona Beach specifically due to bad weather conditions; this event led some Texans who lived near Dona Beach to return home while others decided to stay behind and fight for their country even though they knew nothing about guns or fighting against other countries militarily. In 1865 when the Confederacy collapsed following the surrender of Union General Robert Ewell at Appomattox Court House, most Texans chose not to follow suit and continue living under American rule although some did migrate back into Texas permanently after independence was restored." After Reconstruction ended in America following World War II black Americans regained citizenship rights which allowed them access to various government benefits available only white citizens such as voting rights and access to public housing developments like those found within inner city areas across America beginning in earnest throughout 1950s race riots began taking place throughout large metropolitan areas with African Americans working class neighborhoods becoming hyper-policed where Black Panther activity increasingly infiltrated these communities with deadly results culminating with one night’s looting and arson incident at a whites only nightclub killing four people; this so named “Night Of The Living Dead” episode also served notice nationally leading directly up until today’s civil unrest movements including protestsations over police shootings nonstop across America"
