Lewisburg is a small town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 997 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Williamson County. Lewisburg is home to the Lewisburg Heritage Museum and the nationally-known Bluegrass Festival. The town was founded in 1853 by General James Hance as a trading post on the Cumberland River. In 1865, it became the capital of what would become Williamson County; and in 1868, it became the county seat of Williamson County. It was incorporated as a city in 1907. Lewisburg's downtown area contains several examples of early 20th century American architecture: The Methodist Episcopal Church (1893), Western Presbyterian Church (1914), and First Baptist Church (1910). The Bluegrass Festival began in 1951 and continues to be held every year since then at nearby Ford Park. In 2002, Lewisburg was awarded "Best Place to Live" by Forbes magazine; it has been honored again in 2007 and 2011. The city has also been selected as one of America's "Top 10 Small Towns for Families" by Family Life Magazine/The Home Depot accelerator program twice; and its children's book store has been featured on TV's PBS show "Book Show."

Lewisburg is a small town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. The first white settler in Lewisburg was Gideon Wellman, who arrived in 1814. He named the community after his friend and neighbor Rev. Lewis Ingersoll of Norwich, Connecticut. In 1827, John Wilkinson built a log cabin on the present site of the Lewisburg University campus. The community grew rapidly with settlers from Kentucky and other states coming to homestead here in search of land and easy access to education. By 1830, there were over 60 houses in Lewisburg. After years of negotiation between trustees and state officials over land prices and educational opportunities for citizens, Lewisburg College was founded by order of Governor James Kenedy on October 15, 1830 with 6 students enrolled in what is now known as "the old building." During the American Civil War (1861-1865), most residents chose not to fight because they thought it would be fruitless; however many men did go off to fight including George Washington Matthews (1841-1925). Withdrawal from military service also led to a decrease in population size but not without some consequences for school activities or for economic development around town: most stores opened up only sporadically during this time period because soldiers often took goods elsewhere rather than purchase items at local stores or markets; farms that had been used for animal husbandry became adjuncts to agricultural production during the reconstruction process; while much manufacturing ended up moving out of town due largely to mothballing by Union forces instead of lack of demand or availability at home; businesses like hardware stores closed their doors when all other businesses closed down due to lack either capital orlocally available workers – something that still happens today although there are now several locally owned hardware stores operating within walking distance of each other). It remains one side effect today which can still be seen throughout various areas such as central business district (CBD) located just east off I-55 exit 112B near Stroudsburg Mall where you can find two restaurants called Mrs John's Gourmet Grille & BBQ & Tommy's Barbecue - both opened shortly following 9/11 since few if any new development has taken place within walking distance given how well established these properties are already) / west along I-565 exit 114A approximately 2 miles south near Bethany Homecoming Center - another restaurant opened less than two weeks after 9/11 called Grill 'N' Go - complete with full sized outdoor grill & picnic tables outside where people could enjoy their meal without worrying about terrorism

Lewisburg is a small town located in Fayette County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,958 at the 2010 census. Lewisburg is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. Lewisburg was founded in 1827 by three men from Harrison County: John Lewis, James Hogg and John Battle. The town was named for General Andrew Johnson who served as President of the United States in 1828-29 and 1830-31.
Lewisburg experienced some significant growth during the early 1800s when it became an important stop on the Cumberland Road between Nashville and Memphis. By 1800, Lewisburg had a tavern, store and post office. In 1827, General Andrew Johnson's forces fought a battle at Lewisburg against Native American forces commanded by Chief Joe Brownell. The town was successfully defended by its citizens until federal troops arrived to take over in 1830. At that time, Lewisburgh developed into a thriving community with several churches and businesses including a clothier, tannery and gristmill which remain operational to this day.
The first white settler in what is now Lewisburg was Captain David McLaughlin who arrived in 1785 with his family from Pennsylvania via the Ohio River Valley route through Kentucky on horseback. McLaughlin built his home near present day downtown on what is now called Main Street while he explored what would become Fayette County for potential land purchases.
