The Murrysville Volunteer Infantry was organized on December 15, 1866. The regiment was divided into three companies and organized at the same time. On January 1, 1867, the company A was detached to form a battery and battalion of artillery. Company B became a company of cavalry and Battalion C became an infantry regiment. The first call for volunteers to enlist in the army came up on February 14th 1865 from Major General John P. Augustin in response to the Union victory at Gettysburg. By 1863, there were only 809 men left in Pennsylvania Volunteers Army Reserve which had been raised by state legislatures with no federal guarantee of military service for citizens who refused to serve. In November 1864 Congress authorized the creation of 5 Cavalry Regiments (2 regiments each) as part of Union armies remnants in West Virginia and Kentucky due to Confederate victories there earlier that year. This action created a vacuum in active duty army units and led Governor Andrew Johnson to call for volunteer militia troops from Pennsylvania as well. Colonel John Fenton commanding Company D 2nd Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry volunteered his unit on October 12th 1865 after hearing about the impending Civil War through family connections back home in Murrysville and other nearby towns including Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. Company D arrived at Harrisburg on October 26th 1865 under command of Captain James Waddell with orders to join Forrest’s march across North Carolina towards Savannah on November 3rd 1865 but they were ordered south due to poor weather conditions near Morehead City Tennessee instead where they engaged Federal forces September 17-21st 1865 during Battle of Nashville where Company D lost all 6 members killed or missing including captain James Waddell who was posthumously awarded the Medal Of Honor for heroism during this engagement according to current standards though original records did not list this distinction until 1967 when it was corrected by the National Archives Historical Division which published a document entitled “A History Of The United StatesArmy Since 1861” which included information about this battle . Held April – July 1865 at Chattanooga Tennessee within range of enemy cannons , Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong’s brigade assaulted rebel works May 10th against heavy resistance . After two days rallowing he moved forward again under cover of darkness July 13th towards Kingston Walls having gained 500 yards before being repulsed July 15th by intense fire from militia batteries

Murrysville is a small town in county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was founded on October 25, 1799, by John Murry and his family. The town has a population of 773 as of the 2010 census. The name Murphy'sville comes from the Irish word "murphy" meaning "a little piece of land." The early settlers weredescendants of Fenton and Sullivan families who arrived in 1798. They were among the first to settle near what is now known as University City, which they named for Benjamin Franklin, then Governor of Pennsylvania. John Murry started trading goods with the Indians in this area and soon had a store and home here. He also built a mill which produced flour for local merchants and sold lumber to neighboring townsfolk. In 1807 John Murry donated land at present-day Market Street and Spring Garden Avenue for public school purposes; this site became home to Swenzer School District No 1 in 1922). In 1824 he gave an additional lot at Spring Garden Avenue for religious use (now First United Methodist Church), later renamed Christ Episcopal Church (now part of Trinity Presbyterian Church). By 1830 JohnMurry had amassed an extensive landed estate that included 400 acres (160 hectares) east of town on Beaverdam Creek. On May 2, 1830, he married Susannah Childress at Bethlehem Lutheran Cathedral; their only child was born four months later - Augustus Childress Jr., also named Augustus but known locally as Gus or Buzzy because he was always trying to get people to call him by his nickname rather than his father's last name! Augustus Sr.'s parents died when he was very young so Gus took over running the farm operation from earliest childhood until his death at age 82 years old in 1978! At about this time residents began calling their new community "Murrysville" because it seemed like things would never go wrong here! In 1859 Andrew Carnegie donated $5,000 towards building a school in what is now called Main Street; this structure opened its doors on September 15th, 1860. By 1870 there were twenty-one schools serving students within one mile radius – including ten high schools! Today murrysville still offers excellent educational opportunities with twelve high schools (including two private academies) six middle schools (three rapists/elite programs), three vocational institutions (two technical academies), three libraries/centers/ museums and more than fifty businesses!/ headquartersrants including: PNC Bank ($1 billion dollar global financial institution), Citizens Bank ($3 billion dollar national bank) & Comcast($27 billion dollar TV company)! With all these businesses brought together there must be something good happening right? Unfortunately not really...murrysville ranks dead last out of all 660 municipalities nationwide when it comes to economic development!!!!! let’s take a look…

Murrysville is a city in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 11,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Murrysville were the Porters—a group of Scots-Irish immigrants who arrived around 1785. They erected a log cabin on what is now South Side Avenue and built a trading post near present-day Murrysville in 1807. In 1814, John Moore established nearby Mount Vernon as a plantation with slaves. He used some of his slaves to work on his mill that ran on the Monongahela River. In 1827, he sold all his slaves and removed to Delaware County, Ohio where he died in 1830. His estate passed through several hands before it was purchased by Nicholas Morrill (1810–1886), an American politician who served as Commissioner of Indian Affairs under Presidents Andrew Johnson and Ulysses S. Grant during their respective administrations. Morrill brought over many of his graduate students from America'st University (later Vanderbilt University) to help him establish what would becomeMount Vernon College in 1830 and serve as its first president (1833–36). The college grew quickly and by 1840 had enrolled 200 students from 29 countries; it became one of the largest educational institutions west of Philadelphia when it opened its doors to students from other states in 1845. During World War II, Mount Vernon College furnished training for soldiers drafted into the military for service in Europe; thereafter, it continued to offer education opportunities for Allied veterans until 1945 when all military programs ended at Mount Vernon College except for undergraduate studies leading up to law school which continues today as Pittsburg State University..
