The Coast Guard Auxiliary of Hanover, Pennsylvania was founded in 1923. The auxiliary is the first volunteer service organization in the area and has been a part of the community since its inception. The Coast Guard Auxiliary’s mission is to provide support to the local Coast Guard station and protect citizens from threatening marine traffic. Throughout its history, the Coast Guard Auxiliary has enjoyed many donations from individuals and businesses across Hanover Township. Gifts have ranged from money to items needed for operation of the local coast guard station. In 1969, the auxiliary received a donation of $5,000 which helped fund new equipment and expand services at Station Pointe. In 2001, an anonymous donor provided $25,000 towards construction of a new tower on Station Pointe. This gift continues to be an important source of support for the auxiliary and helps ensure that our members can provide protection while providing fun programming for residents and visitors alike!

The town was founded in 1757 as Princeton Township and was renamed Hanover in 1801 after Prince George, Duke of York, who had married Princess Augusta of Hanover. The Coast Guard provides a wide range of services, including search and rescue, marine law enforcement, coastal safety, environmental protection, and public health. In addition to its manned vessels and helicopters, the Coast Guard also operates unmanned platforms such as the Outagamie County Sheriff's Office Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Program which allows law enforcement officers on the ground to use technology to detect crime and illegal activities near waterways.

The population increased rapidly during the early 19th century because of new transportation and trade routes developed through Hanover Township. Railroads made it easy to move goods and people between different parts of the country. In addition, this community became known for its manufactures, such as cloth, cigars, boots, shoes and hats. The population decreased during the 18th century because of epidemics that struck the area frequently. However, by 1800, Hanover had regained some of its lost population; however, its importance declined again due to economic reasons. By 1920, only a few hundred people lived in Hanover Township although it still remains an important cultural center for central Pennsylvania.

On July 2, 1941, during World War II, Japan bombed the British Admiralty Building in London killing more than 100 people including many Americans; this event is commonly known as Pearl Harbor. The bombing led to increased scrutiny of America's defenses against Japan and increased U.S. military spending which helped lead to victory over Japan during World War II.
