In 1912, it became a part of the Pennsylvania State Police force under statehood. Aliquippa is a small town in Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,452 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Erie County seat and the larger borough of Buffalo. Aliquippa is located on the southern border of Erie County and along the Unites States - Canada Border. The first European settlers arrived in 1788, when George Washington's forces invaded what is now Pennsylvania from New York to capture or kill British General Monmouth. A post office called Aliquippa was established in 1792, but no town developed until 1814 when a group of farmers petitioned for incorporation as a village. The name "Aliquippa" means "place where they make cheese." In 1824, James Hays became proprietor and set about developing this new community by draining swamps that surrounded it and building two churches and one school. The Panic of 1893 caused many business failures in America including those in Aliquippa which were hardest hit because the price of cheese plummeted. However, through hard work and determination, Hays managed to keep his businesses open even during difficult times. In 1899 he donated land to build what would become known as the Hays Dairy Farm which continues to be an important part of local economic life today. In 1906-07, Aliquippa played host to the Eastern Conference Championship game between teams from Penn State University (Nittany Lions) and Lehigh Valley (Blue Belles). This event helped solidify football as a popular sport in America; thereafter Nittany Lion coach Jock Sutherland remarked "What we have here in Aliquippa are some pretty good athletes." On November 25th & 26th 1916 both American armies fought near Antietam Creek crossing over into Maryland while also passing through Alquippa making it one of only 3 US towns everto play Hostilities against another country with full military engagement taking place within its boundaries! It should be noted that most all human activity took place outside these walls during this time so there were few if any direct impacts on residents living inside! During World War II much has changed however with vast amounts of munitions being produced coming out nearby such as Parma (now Pittsburgh) factory trashming up local riverside areas leading to water pollution issues

The creek ran through the town and formed part of its water supply. The first store in Aliquippa opened in 1814. By 1830, there were ten stores in the town. In 1865, Aliquippa had a post office and three hotels. A Carnegie Library was built in 1907 and remains open today as theidence hall for Penn State University's Beaverdam Campus. In 1906, an oil well became operational at an unincorporated site near Aliquippa Township and began production of shale oil. This led to increased industry development within Aliquippa Township and other surrounding rural areas around Pittsburgh; these developments created new jobs throughout the community while also contributing to the spread of economic prosperity throughout central Pennsylvania
