The United States military has a long and proud history in Central Point, Oregon. The first U.S. Army post in the area was established at Fort Hall on the banks of Clearwater River in 1846. In 1863, General George Armstrong Custer's cavalry unit was quartered here after their victory at the Battle of Odessa. The army garrisoned Central Point until 1898 when it moved to Oregon City. In 1919, the armistice led by General John J. Pershing ended World War I and brought an end to the conflict in Europe; however, many soldiers remained in Central Point to help with Reconstruction efforts following the war. The post office at Central Point served as an important center for trade and communication during this time period. Army units stationed at Central Point included Infantry Regiment (8th), Cavalry Regiment (5th), Signal Battalion (2nd), Quartermaster Battalion (1st), Engineer battalion (3rd) and Artillery battalion (4th). After World War II, Army units stationed here include: 1st Armored Division (1985-1994); 2nd Marine Division(1991-1999); 3rd Infantry Division(1991-1998); 4th Infantry Division(2002-present). Today, Joint Base Lewis McChord provides central headquarters for all U S Military operations worldwide including Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraq and Operation Iraqi Freedom/Afghanistan; as well as numerous other subordinate commands across a wide area stretching from Hawaii to Alaska and Mexico City to Vladivostok!

The United States Army stationed in Central Point, Oregon during World War II. The unit was known as the 1st Infantry Division. In 1943, the division was redesignated as the 3rd Infantry Division and then in 1945 as the 4th Infantry Division. It served in both World Wars and the Korean War.
Central Point is a town in Wallowa County, Oregon, United States. The population was 7,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pendleton–Beaverton–Moro area. The first permanent settler in Central Point was John C. Frémont in 1847. Central Point had a post office from 1854 to 1861 and from 1865 to 1867. The first store was established here in 1868 by J.H. McIntyre and Halsey Smith, also the first white men to set foot on this side of the Columbia River. The railroad came through town in 1870 and Central Point became an important commercial center for Wallowa County due to its location between Portland and Seattle on the Pacific Railway network and its close proximity to both factories and mines that produced silver ore and other minerals such as lead and zincs. In 1902, George Armstrong Clark built a house here which still stands today as one of Central Point's most prominent landmarks—the only remaining house from his presidency. In 1906, Central Point also became home to what would become known as "The Gilded Age" because of how many millionaires lived there during this time period thanks to its many industries including lumbering, mining, agriculture, shipbuilding, steel manufacturing, publishing houses etc.. During World War II much of CentralPoint's heavy industry stopped production due to wartime restrictions but some companies like Boeing did continue operations until 1949 when they closed their doors completely due to competition from Japanese manufacturers who were beginning produce aircraft more efficiently than Americans could do at that point - soon thereafter American Aircraft Manufacturing Company (AAMCO) took over these plants producing military planes untilchasing Boeing out of business entirely by becoming largest manufacturer of jetliners in history!

Central Point is a town in central Oregon, United States. A post office was established at Central Point in 1875, and the town was named after the point of maximum land elevation within its boundaries. The population was 1,362 at the 2010 census. The site of present-day Central Point was first occupied by Native Americans during the Pumice Hill culture. After their removal from the area in 1853, prospectors arrived in search of gold and silver in what is now Oregon. In 1865, John Sutter founded Sutter's Fort at Central Point to support his goldmining operations on the Klamath River. In 1870, Ulysses S. Grant became president of the United States and ordered federal troops withdrawn from California; this removed any potential competition for mining rights on the Klamath River. By 1872, government officials had determined that no new gold or silver discoveries could be made at Pumice Hill; however, prospectors continued to visit Central Point for ore dumps and other supplies until 1886 when a local farmer discovered coal seam deposits near present-day Central Point proper. Coal production began around this time but stopped due to oversupply and competition from other mines throughout Oregon. In 1898, during World War I effort to expand military activities into central Oregon by General George Evans as part of commanders plans called "Operation Amber", Central Point residents came together to form an agricultural cooperative known as "The Grapes". The cooperative grew rapidly and eventually included fruit trees, vegetables gardens and ranches across many miles of countryside including portions of Tillamook County north of Central Point eastward to Bendigo Road where it crossed Interstate 5 just south of Burns Lake National Wildlife Refuge (now Burns Lake State Park). The GGCo provided produce for farmers along with irrigation water from nearby reservoirs downriver which allowed Co-op members much expansion beyond their initial acreage without expensive infrastructure purchases or project labor additions required by state governments seeking self-sufficiency during peacetime periods while war efforts drained budgets nationally following World Wars I through II . CentralPoint Female College opened its doors in 1918 as one response to Federal housing shortages caused by World War I veterans returning home with families seeking jobs outside army barracks or returning home with skills not needed on farms so that their wives could find work also (the first women's colleges west of Northwest Territory were established in 1916). With enrollment increasing steadily starting with about forty students enrolled per semester full time earning degrees from Columbia University Graduate School (later renamed Portland State University) up until graduation rates peaked at seventy percent complete women’s college graduates enrolling annually during 1924–1927 having become “a force worth watching” according to one observer because they had married into middle class families who were “able both financially and politically” – qualities which continued into postwar years when women gained voting rights (in 1920), access fundamental education opportunities such as free public transportation (1920), legal recognition as citizens beginning with passage of US Constitution amendment granting woman right to vote 20 years later (1932), professional licenses beginning before then than today such as law enforcement officers etc.; these accomplishments notwithstanding numerous challenges faced daily by young women attending college while living under high levelsstress family obligations resulting directlyfrom changing social mores & values since early 20th century [See 'Challenges facing female college students today']. A number HAZMAT events occurred between 9/11/2001 & 10/5/2001: 1) On 9/11/2001 approximately 1600 lbs ammonium hydroxide gas grenades were detonated inside Building #2 adjacent TV studio building located on NW corner Of Main Street And NW corner Of Woodward Avenue inside Powell Broadcasting Service affiliated station WUSA9TV owned by Bruce Powell using remote control devices 2) A second explosion occurred minutes after detonation taking place inside Building #3 adjacent NW corner Of Main Street And NW corner Of Woodward Avenue injuring 3 people identified only as male & female occupants 4) A third explosion took place less than two hours after detonation taking place near Building #4 adjoining SW corner Of Main Street And NE corner OF Woodward Avenue belonging To Jeffery Boyle owner operating company Western Development Television
